My daughter has a HTC One SV and last night was notified of an update to 4.1.2.

Does this phone automatically update everything, texts, photo's, music before updating the software or is there software that can be downloaded on the computer to back up the phone?

It does say that it won't delete any of the content, does that include texts and media?

It would delete everything that's on their now and load a new version of Android on there.

When i updated mine, I didn't lose anything. Although i use Go SMS Pro, I don't think that matters. I just went into my Messages app, and all my old texts are still there.

Hmm I guess maybe they changed the update process, I didn't upgrade from there anyway I waited til the update was rooted with s-off

System updates do not factory reset anything on your phone. It simply updates the OS and anything else stated in the dialogue box when prompted with the update. Anything that's on your device is perfectly fine, nothing will be deleted.

I had a problem upgrading OS's from Gingerbread to ics
