Help Software update problems

I have the samsung captivate. When I go to the software part in settings and click on RESUME UPDATE it says NO FIRMWARE. When I click CHECK FOR UPDATE it says CAN'T COMMUNICATE WITH ATT SERVER.

Bad phone ?

any way to fix it? I tried the mini kies, and that doesnt do anything for me either. wtf

Worry about after the chaos of people trying to apply this latest update has died down and there's actually a new update available.
