Sold my rooted Sharp 2.2.2 Triumph, now buyer claims he can't activate it

...he claims that it's because I modified the phone so when he called VM, the customer representative was unable to activate the phone for him.

I had the phone running Sharp 2.2.2 ROM and never had a problem. I have a hard time believing his story but want to verify before coming to a conclusion.

Would VM not be able to activate a phone if it's rooted? I had it factory reset to wipe out all of my personal information before shipping. Is there a way to verify with VM on this phone with this issue?

The only way to activate is on Stock VM ROM. This has been discussed many time in these forums. He will have to flash this http://dl.mtdev.us/UNROOT/MTDEV-Stock.zip

Thanks, BSYDZ. Glad to see you still here!

Is there a step-by-step instruction on how to unroot the phone? I am reading this thread: http://androidforums.com/triumph-all-things-root/455603-guide-rooting-your-motorola-triumph.html and I am not sure which method the buyer should follow. Method 1 or 2?

I believe although I may be wrong but flashing the file bsyds posted should leave the phone totally stock unroofed and ready to activate

And if recall correctly its flashed like any other rom

Custom recover should be able to be left on there, shouldn't interfere

I think the ROM linked does not have root access (there are 2 in that same directory, the other one definitely doesn't)... but it doesn't matter.
To activate you just need the stock ROM, rooted or not makes no difference. Also, stock recovery or CWM doesn't matter either.
