Help Solutions for slick back?

I'm not inclined to put cases on my cell phoneS because, well, I just don't want the extra bulk. Unfortunately the GNex has a super slick back, making A good grip somewhat difficult. And the rounded edges don't help either.

Does anyone have an idea of how to get some tackiness on the back without getting a case?

I've been a fan of the Zagg invisibleSHIELD for some time. It works great on the iPhone 4s because it can be placed on the front and back of the phone, which are flat, and it adds a lot more grip to the otherwise slick glass. But obviously something like that won't work on the GNex's curved back. (I do have it on the front -- although I have mixed feeling about it with this one -- but we'll leave that for another thread.)

Any thoughts? Thanks!

Are they easy to pull off and on? I am getting the car dock and the GNex won't work in the dock while covered.

Very easy

Oh... And since I bought the extended battery, I may try spraying the spare cover with something that has a bit more texture...

That is an excellent idea!!! First thing that comes to mind is something like Plasti Dip. Since you wouldn't want to dip the whole thing you could just spread it on the back.

I wish someone would just make a replaceable battery cover. I was wishing for this for the fascinate, even started a thread and got quite a few "yes" votes on a poll, but not enough to generate interest sufficient for someone to make one. I'd love to replace the stock slipper back with something more grippy, without having to add even "Seido" levels of thickness to this phone.

You could literally go to target/walmart and buy those stops they put on cabinet doors in the kitchen kitchen, as long as you don't mind sticking stuff on your phone.

Come in all shapes and sizes though i think it looks kinda meh.

OR you could buy another stock cover/battery combo and modify the back plastic with some sort of rubber adhesive, vinyl, rhino paint etc.

Today I think I'm going to pick up an extended battery. That comes with a new back piece?

If so, I'm going to try a spray rubber on it.

My only concern is the latches. I watched a YouTube video about using the spray rubber ... (Rubberising Your Samsung Plastic Battery Case - YouTube ... and they said it's important to cover the edges because the stuff peels off easily. Well, I can't exactly spray the edges of the GNex back cover because then the rubber would get into the latches, and I'm certain that the back wouldn't snap on again.

So, anyway, we'll see how it goes.

The "...peels off easily" part worries me, when it comes to plasti-dip. If it somehow had a better bond. I wonder if there's some kind of plastic primer you could spray on first to help the plasti-dip form a more cohesive bond, so that you wouldn't have go onto the edges and risk affecting how the back panel seals up.

I'm definitely SICK AND TIRED of Samsung's slippery phone backs. When will they get a bloody clue? I was jogging the other day and I pulled my Fascinate out of my pocket only to watch it continue flying through the air and come crashing down upon the pavement road. Other than a new ding on the plastic side and a crack on the glass around the camera (thankfully not anywhere within the viewable area of the sensor) my Fascinate survived. In fact, after that impact, my battery life improved substantially for some reason. It had sucked since I returned to using my phone after Army basic training. All it took was smashing against the pavement to restore my battery life to normal.

Battery life aside, the moral of the story is that slick phone backs suck. How can any manufacturer not know this by now???
