I came across this on xda has anyone tried this on our phone?

thanks to p-bOt from the esteem forums for putting this together for us it worked for me my average speed is 650kbs to 1Mbs

1 flash and reboot may take a little bit to boot but no longer than 15min
2 then boot back into recovery wipe cache and dalvik
3 reboot and there you go no more governor

MAKE A BACK UP FIRST

p-bOt will post a new thread shortly:)

No computer right now and my data is so slow it usually corrupts my files just curious atm to see if anyone has tried this. Let me know how it goes. I'll be able to download it in a few hrs if it works.

lol ok so i already found another link before i saw your posts
Dont try at all, 3g throttle obvi on metros side.
Waste of time tbh

This seems to give improvements on Crickets network (I just decompiled services.jar and removed all throttle instances, repacks, and pushed.) -- although I'll have to run some more tests in town -- but out in the sticks I was getting consistently 400kbps-600kbps -- after mod, 1.4Mb/s

wats up everyone!! well we have this already for the esteem created by(P-BOT) you guys can try it out see if it works ;) show some love and his thx button.

Just a warning? DO NOT FLASH THIS MOD! It is for a different phone and most likely WILL NOT WORK ON OURS.

Since there at least 2 different builds for the Crickets R720 (Vitality), there may be multiple builds on metroPCS as well.

If you want to try this mod, its best to do it manually. If you're not tech savy, I would not try this.

Obviously, BACK UP YOUR SERVICES.JAR FILE.

You can follow this method if you're Services.jar framework is already modified, or if you aren't sure.

1. Download these 2 files:
Smali_Baksmali

[fixed link for baksmili- op you can remove this line when u get to it ]

2. Create 2 folders on your C: Drive labeled "Smali" and "Baksmali". (This is for easy access to the folders when being cd'd)

3. Place the 2 downloaded files in the C: Drive folders accordingly. (I.E. Smali.jar in "Smali" folder, and Baksmali.jar in "Baksmali" folder.)

4. Using 7zip or WinRAR (or any other zip program) open the services.jar file that you pulled from your phone. Copy the "classes.dex" file and paste it into the "Baksmali" folder.

5. Open your command prompt and type the following:
cd C:/Baksmali
java -Xmx512M -jar baksmali.jar -o classes/ classes.dex

6. Open the newly created "classes" folder (its inside your Baksmali folder that you should already be in) and navigate through "/com/android/server/". Scroll down till you see the 6 or 7 "Throttle" files. They will be located between "TelephonyRegistry" and "TVCableObserver$1$1". DELETE ONLY THE "THROTTLE" FILES.

7. Back out of the folders until you are in the "Baksmali" folder again. Now open the "Smali" folder you created earlier. Place the "classes" FOLDER in the "Smali" folder.

8. Return to your command prompt and type this:
cd C:/Smali
java -Xmx512M -jar smali.jar -o classes.dex classes/

9. You should now see a "classes.dex" file in your "Smali" folder. This is the NEW compiled services.jar classes.dex file. Pull up the 7zip or WinRAR file you had open earlier, delete the current classes.dex file from the services.jar, and place the newly compiled one in it's place.

10. Place the services.jar file back into your ROM, and boot up. You are now running Unthrottled.

11. If you do not see the "Throttle" files, don't complain they're not there, your Dev may have already taken them out.

Obviously, BACK UP YOUR SERVICES.JAR FILE.

Seems a bit complicated, guess I'll just have to be happy with the 800kbs average but any other mods will help me get higher speeds?

Oh yeah and i have a modded services.jar classes.dex file.
any of you gurls want it?

p-b0t from the esteem forums is going to work on a flashable zip for this in the next few days I'll keep in touch with him and keep you guys up to date but it's going to be for the service.jar for monster 5.1 based off stock++. Hopefully it works :)

the phone settings reports only what is in build.prop, as for the build.prop... i think it might be the prop used for the CM 7.2, but not really sure. if you look at the system apps tho they are all 2.3.4...
