Help (Solved) Dialer crashing with no error message

I just bought a Verizon prepaid Moto G and a few days ago I got the 4.4.4 update. Now at least once a day, when I open the dialer or people app it will instantly disappear. It remains in the task list and if I bring it up it just dissapears again. Even if I swipe it away it still does it. Usually after trying about 5-10 times it stays open and doesn't happen again. It even happens after a factory reset which reverts to 4.4.3, in safe mode, and after clearing the cache partition. I've also cleared the app caches for the phone and people apps.

Motorola tech support told me to exchange the phone if it was still possible or if not, they would send me a new one under warranty. I exchanged it at Best Buy and it was fine for a day and now it's started again. I even tried installing Rocket Dialer and it's really strange because that dialer crashes as well but usually stays open the second time while the stock dialer takes up to 23 times at my last count before it stays open.

P.S. One thing I just remembered is that I always disable a bunch of system apps and I even did it after the factory reset. It's such a habit I didn't think twice about it. Maybe the KitKat update needs one of these running? Here's a list of the apps I disable (which caused no problems with 4.4.2).

Android live wallpapers
Basic daydreams
Bubbles
Cloud print
Device Management (Motorola)
Email
Face Unlock

Well, I think you may have answered your own question.

Maybe before freezing all of those apps, you should see if you can reproduce this issue running it with no modifications out of the box. If it works with no issues, try freezing apps one by one to narrow down what one might be causing the problem.

Safe Mode is a great diagnostic tool. Running in Safe Mode will disable all apps you added without uninstalling them. If the problem stops it was caused by an app that you added.

Probably won't help with this one ... might help wit the next one.

I already re-enabled the system apps and I'm going to run in safe mode all day to see if happens. If it doesn't I'll run all my apps one by one and then start disabling the system apps one by one.

I finally figured it out. It was disabling the default email app that caused the dialer to crash. I tested it three times to be sure by disabling the email app and restarting it as soon as the dialer started crashing. All three times starting the email app instantly fixed the problem. I use gmail so I always disable the default email but I guess in the update it's somehow tied to the functionality of the phone.
