Root ( Solved-probably ) usb tethering

I am trying to do a reverse tether from my laptop to my phone
I have an app called reverse tether
But the option for usb tethering is greyed out and not able to be checked
Is this due to my firmware (c)?

If I had to guess, it might be grayed out because you have the USB plugged in.

I am on c
Its grey with usb plugged in or not
I wonder if it is clickable on any others
 
Can anybody on version d
Could check their usb connection settings to see if usb tethering can be enabled ?
Save me from flashing firmware just to find out?

I am gonna assume that this feature isnt allowed because i dont have metro service
Its not detecting a data connection and wont turn on.
 
I believe that the only way you can enable USB tethering is if you have a mobile data connection. This is why the option is greyed out when you're connected to wifi and not to your mobile data.
 
Yep thays exactly what i thought
But maybe i can dig through the system and find a setting to enable it anyways.

Its just another problem i have to work on
I. Dont have metro service so i use wifi
But some of the places i go my phone doesnt get good reception
But my laptop does
So i want to do reverse tether
Shoot the wifi to my phone from laptop through usb
I have winxp which doesnt allow me to take 2 wifi adapters and bind them to make a hotspot without using adhoc which so far i cant get my phone to read
So i will probably have to use windows 7 to get around all this hassles

Yeah
Sometimes i put one motion somewhere it gets good wifi signal( in a tree,taped to a window,on a fence) turn on foxifi in bluetooth mode
It shoots wifi to my other phone which uses Pdanet tablet in bluetooth mode to get on the net(like a reapeter)
But my laptop gets better reception.and i have an antenna and coax
So i am gonna modify my laptop
I am going to open it up and solder coax to the built in wifi card
So i can use an. 7 db gain antenna with 7 feet if coax
So i can move the antenna around
Was hoping to get wifi on my laptop and pipe it to my phone through usb(app is called Reverse tether)

But since i cant get usb tether to run
Gonna have to install win7
Use to wifi cards one to connect to wifi and one to repeat it to my phone
Or open my phone up and put an antenaa conector to the phone itself and have a rubber ducky antenna on my phone
Like they have. On wifi routers
I may do the same for the 4 g antenna when i get service again
