Help [Solved]Stock Email App question

For those of you that use the stock email app, has anyone seen a minus sign next to their inbox like below?
Not sure how it happened but if I have new email it goes but after deleting all my emails it says -1 again, wierd!

FWIW, I've never seen it.
Have you tried rebooting with a few unread emails waiting and again with an empty inbox?

Yep tried that, funny thing is if I receive an email it doesn't show as 1 but when I delete it it shows as -1 lol, it's like my email is always 1 behind.

As a relatively new user of the Note 2, I have recently seen that whenever I 'empty' my e-mail box, the e-mail icon shows (-1). Even when there are, say, 4 e-mails in the list, the number on the icon is 1 less, 3.

This didn't happen when I first got the phone. Is there a setting that I have inadvertently disturbed?

Anyways, I have heard different things on what that could be from a pending delete on the server to a "swipe to ignore" motion.

I have heard of recommendations of going into the email app (gmail, I assume?) and clearing the cache and data from it. You'll lose your emails/accounts etc, so save what you need to. Then you need just sign back in.

I would surmise that would work, but I would like better confirmation on that from the folks here

After trying a few things I ended up just clearing cache and losing email settings. It doesn't take long to reset everything. Not sure why it happened in the first place tbh.

I just chalk things like this up as a glitch in the matrix. No rhyme or reason what causes it.

Many thanks to all. New User and the response from all, including the moderators were gratefully received.

In the end I simply removed the e-mail settings, and re-installed them. the (-1) has now disappeared.
