Root Some hboot questions

Leedroid 2.4 Hboot-0.83, PVT3

I'm looking to update from Leedroid 2.4 to 3.6r2. However I read on lee's thread that nobody with hboot 0.83 has been successfull in flashing this rom. I did manage to get 3.3 loadeded on this hboot before but any rom I've tried since is leaving me stuck in a boot loop.

The questions I have are what is the best method of upgrading my hboot driver?
Will the alpharev root to S-Off change my hboot driver & leave me S-Off too?

Also is there a more detailed guide on the method to using alpharev? I've tried searching the forums and could only find a link to this guide on Xda:

Hboot driver is on your PC. Hboot on your phone is the bootloader. This may be confusing issues for you.

The alpharev S-off hboot is 0.93 so this will be ideal for you. The 0.93 alpharev hboot ignores the security flag, which is what creates S-off.

Its a really easy process which is probably why you can't find much. You just download it and butn the iso image to CD with CD burning software.

This creates a bootable CD. You put the CD in your drive, turn on your PC and follow the onscreen instructions.

Unfortunately in my infinite wisdom the laptop I bought recently doesnt have a cd drive. Is this possible to do with a usb stick?

Ah yes you can. You can make the iso bootable from usb using unetbootin or bootmyiso.
 
Thats an additional thing afterwards. That is then used to change the partition layout internally to make different partitions bigger / smaller.

You just need the ISO:
AlphaRev 1.8 HBOOT reflash utility

You can flash a table afterwards, but just get through this bit first
