Root Some questions on the new radio update...

I have read and have seen that so many people saying that the only worth of updating to the new radio version is better reception. Would this include reception for everything? Including 3g? Or just call reception?

My reception sometimes is not always that good, most of the time it is but every now and then I get really few bars of signal in some areas.

Is this worth going through the trouble? I do not mind starting over, as long as I get improved signal. I did see some threads about people saying there phone restarts when they send a text sometimes with the new radio version.

I am running backside latest version, as well as the green recovery from jerry, also latest version. I did see his post though however about not flashing any radio with that recovery. So If i did do this, I am aware I would have to get a different recovery in order to flash the new radio.

Basically, if it means that my signal and my 3g reception gets a lot better, I am willing to do it. If not, or it's not that big of a difference, I will not bother with it.

Don't do it. My reception did not improve at all. And the radio update is bugged with gingerbread roms. You will get random reboots when you send text messages and sometimes when you make calls.

Mine does it all the time. It's incredibly frustrating. It's why I'm buying the evo 4g when it comes out. Well.... one of the reasons

Some people are reporting better results with the radio update while others don't see a difference. Whether it will help you any really depends on your phone and coverage I think. Yes there was a bug with custom gingerbread based roms if you had the zv9 radio but that has been corrected in the new kernels a few of the devs have put out. I know the newest backside has BobZ's new kernel.

Myself I installed the update and don't really see any difference but like I said others claim it improves voice quality and 3g. If you decide you want to try here's a thread with some easy directions to do it. I'd read over it first

Also once installing the update you will have to reroot your phone as it makes your phone 100% stock. The root process is not as easy as the past 1 click solutions so I'd read this thread also

You also might want to try changing your prl first to see if that helps any

I run the newest version of backside and my phone definitely still has the problem. If anything, the update made my reception worse. my.phone doesn't even ring sometimes when called. In fact, it probably only rings about 25 percent if the time. Also, even when I have full bar if signal my phone well fail to make calls and they'll drop before it even starts ringing. It would be a big coincidence for all of this to begin right around the time I did the update

Reboots was fixed about 2 wweeks Ago. LG released the update sources.

I had better reception upon flashing.
