Help Some system sounds don't work.

Under Sound>System I have everything checked except Vibrate on touch. I hear a very soft tone when using the dial pad but nothing when making screen selections, locking and unlocking the screen and when refreshing feeds and content. I have checked, unchecked and checked again with no sounds. I have rebooted and no sounds. I have installed the apps Volume Control + and Audio Manager to boost the volume on system sounds and neither worked so I uninstalled them. I have read that this Android problem may have first appeared in 2011. It has also been suggested that the various sound files for these sounds are missing. Is there anyway to check if this is true? Is anyone else having this problem with the HTC One M8 and is there a solution? Thanks.

Mine doesn't have system sounds either. The camera shutter sound also is very weak. I am rooted so I replaced /system/media/audio/ui/effect_tick.ogg by a louder ogg file. For the camera, I ended up using a third party camera app.

It's good to know that I'm not the only one where this doesn't work. I've only flashed ROMs when I had my unlocked Motorola Mpx 220 years ago. Since then I've gone with carrier locked phones to get the subsidy. With the older phone I remember the carrier had disabled certain features in the operator part of the ROM which you could turn back on by doing a mod. The 220 was a quad-band phone but AT&T had disabled one of the bands making it a tri-band.
I should have checked all the system sounds before I loaded on all my apps. I'd really hate to do a factory reset just to see if the missing features are there.

Another thing I noticed while testing several volume manager apps is that the system volume seems to be linked to the ringer volume. My phone has no setting for system volume. I wonder if that's a BlinkFeed or a kitkat bug (or feature). Only when you use a 3rd party app to select your volumes, you'll notice this.

Wow! Very interesting. This many complaints with a phone that's only been out for about a month. HTC is going to have to address this issue soon. If it's a firmware problem, they will have to make an update available. I didn't have this problem with my HTC Inspire (Android v2.3.5); the phone the M8 replaced.

I'm sure it's a Sense 6 bug. I had it with the stock ROM (before and after I rooted) and I have it with the Android Revolution ROM HD 7.0 which is also based on Sense 6. Other phones with Android Kitkat don't seem to have this problem, so it must be Sense.
