Help Someone Please Help Me Out With This ADB Driver Issue, IDK What Im Doing Wrong

From everything I have read this should be so simple, but I have tried everything to no avail. Im trying to use my phone as a modem of course, so I started from scratch and ran into many issues, I found out that the ADB driver that is being auto installed by windows always fails, and I dont even think its the right ADB driver anyways (not sure if the phone model number should be part of the driver description). I have already went through the process of the SDK and things like that, all I need to do is to get my CPU to recoginize my phone through the ADB driver, is this seriously this hard.


If the driver keeps failing, what the hell is the problem, I know for sure that this is all I need to correct,what is causing the issue.

I have a feeling that i need to use a different ADB driver (galaxy S I believe), but how do I install that directly as a driver, i cant even see a ADB file when I download the driver for the galaxy S so this is where im currently stuck at.

My few direct questions

1. Is the ADB driver thats auto installed by Windows the correct driver

2. Do I need to just use a different driver for the ADB ONLY

3. If so, what do I need to download and EXACTLY how do I install it where it needs to go

I'm not sure what you are doing fiddling with adb just to tether the phone. You'd be better off using easytether or pdanet, which are both available from the marketplace. They are easy, friendly to follow, and very quick to install.

Im using easytether and it should be simple but it still doesn't recognize my phone. Im having the same issues as the OP
 
Hmmm... That's strange. What operating system are you using. Also, if you have a spare usb cable, try using it instead. Unfortunately, some phones appear to have shipped with faulty/loose cables.

Oh, and make sure you downloaded the right drivers from the easy tether website.
 
Mike, are you saying they are trying this BEFORE rooting? I did not catch that, but it appears you may be right.
