My dad worked for a local radio station when I was a kid and we had great adventures. When HH came to town my 2 older sisters got to go to the press conference/station promo. Had some great pics but they are seemingly lost to time. I went to the airport to pick Sonny and Cher up, Sonny bought me a candy bar from the vending machine lol.
The only music celeb I met was Dorothy McGuire and it was well after the sisters' careers were over. I met her at Pasta Brioni, a very upscale restaurant in Phoenix. I had stepped out the back door to have a smoke of my pipe. She stepped out and was waiting on her driver to bring the car... it was lightly raining. I told her that I was a fan of her and her sisters work. She thanked me and said she enjoyed the aroma of my tobacco. We both parted company flattered.
OT - I love stories like these. @Clementine_3 amazing story. You must have been slightly gutted later on that you lost out to your siblings for HH, but met Sonny and Cher. Some more stories I bet.
Olbriar that's a real person to person meeting. I knew of them. My meetings were mainly as a Chauffeur in London so mostly met people in a service capacity.
Still OT I have always loved tenuous links stories about people that you found out about, or met, that connected them to someone or something else - or to yourself.
I wwould have liked to start a thread called Tenuous Links, but there probably isn't enough interest.
I'll put three here for fun : Werner Herzog (film maker) and Juliane Koepke. (I read the extra connection today)
Taxi (the comedy series) and people's differing memory capabilities. (My short term memory sucks, but I'm fascinated by it)
My third one I forgot (seriously). I'll stick it here tomorrow.
