Sony Playstation 1 (PSX) on Android working and coming soon!

I would think that HW acceleration could be implemented via some sort of OpenGL wrapper to make it work on almost any hardware?

Any update on the stuck authorizing issue? Tried buying it this morning but it just got stuck authorizing for about 30 mins. Got my refund, but I don't want to just pay for something I can't even download.

Good question, but I do know the Snapdragon drivers were made public for devs to have at it :)
Games (as far as I'm aware) aren't written for specific GPU's, so I don't think this really helps. Now it may help them optimize it for that platform, but games use a standard API for render calls, not direct hardware access.

It's a google checkout problem, not an issue with this particular app. I couldn't even download an update for tapatalk earlier today for the same reason!

i had the stuck authorizing issue at first as well, but finally downloaded it today. Ended up refunding last night, then waiting til about noon today (central) and voila it downloaded in like 10 seconds. :D

now...time to hunt for some roms, all my psx games are in Germany :(

There must already be some form of basic acceleration going on, considering how well a lot of games run. Games that seem to fit the 3D resources supported play very smooth on the Inc.

Man I wish the Epic was coming to VZW :( Droid is okay, but the 4" display would be sweet.

I've just tried Gran Turismo 2, and while it seems to run smoothly, it's running at about 70% realtime. I've tried no scaling, changing the refresh cap form 60 to 30, and it just runs slow. Not sure why, but I doubt it's using HW acceleration for much of anything, if at all.

EDIT: If this is how it performs on a droidX, then I think I'll probably refund, at least until performance improves dramatically or froyo is shown to speed it up considerably.

the emulator got updated today though i have no idea where the changelog is.

edit: well for one, there's l1/l2 r1/r2 buttons now

I am surprised on your view and would also assume the X is faster than the Inc, but then again- if no acceleration... probably the same results.

I still have a ton of PS1 games that I play on a PS2 and PSXe for reference. The following games played as smooth as on both of those (I am a mega old school gamer).

Raiden 2
Ridge Racer
Rage Racer
Ridge Racer 4
Every 2D Capcom, Marvel, Street Fighter game I had played perfectly smooth.
Need for Speed 3
NFL Blitz 2001
NBA Showtime
Arkanoid 2000
Disrupter
Crash Racing
Tiny Tank
Street Fighter EX2
Geikido (shooter)
Jimmy White Pool
Raystorm
Pocket Fighters
Hot Shots 1 and 2
Einhander
Boombots

So far, six games I have tried play slow: Guilty Gear, Dead or Alive, Rival Schools, Ergeiz, Tekken 3 and Bloody Roar.

Frankly, I am happy if just the games listed above played and nothing else. Heck, just for Raiden 2, Crash Racing, Need for Speed 3 and Hotshots I am more than happy to pay for the app.

I am a tad stunned on your perspective, but it is your perspective, none the less :)

BTW, in regards to the update, must be more than the L2/R2 buttons, since Rival Schools went from about 60% speed to 80%. It went from too slow to be playable to just enough to be fun. As always, I kill other tasks running when I use the app.

Whoa, I need to update :-D

Really need those extra buttons, I hope they can be configured. Different layouts for different games would be very handy!

you can use IceTea to compress the iso or bin files to eboot files. i hear this also make some games work a little better. sometimes it will compress it down to half size :D

ok i got the PSX installed with the bios file now here is the question where can i find the games for it cause i'm a noob when it comes to this

i understand google is my friend but the real question will it work for the samsung moment sorry i wasn't clear on it cause i got a game on it now but it's not loading the game keeps going back to the folders

you asked where to find roms, not if it would work on your phone. It could be its underpowered for the emulator.

Try a few different games.. emulators usually have issues with some games, and some typically are too stubborn to run properly.

Reply back here with your results, in case other people have the same phone, and are looking for help as well.

FF Tactics works great! Sound is a lil choppy. Going to try to see if ebooting it will make it better.
