Help Sony xperia z notification problems

Hi all

Wondering if anyone can help. Bought myself a Sony xperia z which is running andriod 4.2.2 (previously had a Samsung galaxy s2). On my Samsung if there was any action on eBay, Facebook etc I would get a notification along my top status bar. However with my Sony I don't get anything only once I open the app it shows that there is a notification. My notification settings are all turned on I'm totally baffled can anyone help or knows why this is happening issue really annoying kind of wish had of stayed with my s2 now. Thanks in advance

Do you have stamina mode enabled? if you do this will impact any and all notifications on your handset?

No and thanks for the reply. No I don't have stamina mode enabled even when I am using the handset and it is on no notifications will come through along the top status bar its pretty frustrating
