Help SOO many apps!

Since I'm having a quick complain about something which annoys me about my Sensation:

As a way of helping to keep my battery from going flat within a couple of hours, I installed Advanced Task Killer, and set it to auto-kill stuff that isn't in the ignore list every half an hour. What bugs me is the sheer number of apps which seem to automatically start themselves, and KEEP ON starting themselves despite the repeated killing. And some of it is really random - the other night I noticed that "Dock Mode" keeps running - I've never used the phone in a dock, or activated dock mode, so where's that coming from?

Is there a reliable way of preventing all of these unwanted apps from firing themselves up constantly?

Contrary to what the task killer will have told you, Android does not need a third party task killer. What your seeing are dormant apps that are not actually (in 99% of cases) using any resource and the in-built android task management is actually very, very good. They are simply cached to minimise the resource needed to re-open them when you do want them. So in fact, by using a task killer to kill them you will only be harming battery life, not saving it.

The only exception to this is any badly coded apps which refuse to enter the dormant state but i have over 150 apps installed and not come across any that do this.

Ditch the task killer, i found with my desire that battery life increased and the phone felt smoother. Never used a task killer at all on my Sensation

Install Battery Mix, it'll tell you which apps are using how much of your battery, you'll be able to determine which apps are causing battery drain, if any are.

Also, install Add-ons Detector, it'll be able to tell you which apps use which services like Push Notifications which will drain your battery.
