Root soo

Well 2Gig, I will help out with what I can help you with, but I don't own the Admire so, it's going to make things a bit more difficult. I spoke with my buddy at the MetroPCS store about hooking me up with one, but that turned out to be a no go unless I wanted to buy it brand new and with christmas coming I can't really afford it. But let me know what I can do to help you guys. :thumb: :car:
Welcome! The Admire Isn't A Lot At Metro PCS. I'm Glad You're Contributing With This Phone :)

I know there not to much, but since this is the first year my 9 year old son has been home with me for Christmas in 5 years, i have to spoil the sh*t out of him. Ya know? :D

I really would like to get my admire working on cricket. Im still on metro and im living in chicago. I grew up here so ive used cricket and im comfortable wit it. Since coming here ive kept my metro. Big downgrade (lost all of my 3g). How is crickets data plans?

Cricket has comparable rates to Metro, except they have data caps :( I'm on the base $50, with 3G capped at 1GB bandwidth.... but hey, I rarely use my 3g :P

you should try to keep the tethering aspect of OA. thats an important part of rom itself.

Right now, we're working off the bare-bones stock Cricket firmware. After much testing on my end, and much work on 2GB's, we've got it flashable... The only issue we're having, right now, is AwesomeBeats didn't flash in, and WiFi and data are hosed...

Other than that, it's de-odexed, de-bloated, init.d support (he got SPZ0's permission to use the kernel), and A2SD. The idea is to have something built purely off of stock Cricket 2.3.4, rather than a port from the Admire. Unfortunately, it's been a headbanger, not a success yet. But we have faith :P

Face it the admire's dead cm7 on this phone Epic fail
cm9 or ics rom never going to happen Jellybean just the same as
Never but the rest are just Boring Old Over clocked and themes
The fact is Rooting the admire to hack games is it's only life line

Dude, no. Just.... no.... There may not be much happening on your end, but you have to do the same thing Dorothy did in the Wizard of Oz, man, and peek behind the damn curtain.
It's called Phase 2, man. The fun is just getting started. Bring a sack, a bottle or ten of booze, some beers, and sit back, watch the show, and profit.

I've got one with broken volume buttons. Everything else works fine, except that somewhere along the way I lost the screws, so don't drop it. If you can cover the shipping, I'll send it to you. I suppose it wouldn't be good for CWM, obviously, but maybe you could use adb to push a ROM to it or something.

PM me if you're interested, and I'll fill you in on it's history. It doesn't have a serial number on the back, either :P

understand that the 2 phones are really the same. "porting" a rom from metro to cricket really isnt porting its just a few files that are any different. every thing else is just for looks (when comparing stock roms) Same hardware thou.

It just seems that there are more problems when running a metro rom on a cricket phone rather than running stock.......until now Dx Dear god, I've never seen so many errors and bugs!

Wow... Cry baby, cry...

The R720 is a limited device with limited ram
A huge downfall to the device so fully functional and fast ics/jb roms just aren't going to happen. You think that by slapping ics on this device is going to stop the low ram lag when you visit most Web version websites? Not a chance. It'll be worse. Battery life improvements? Worse also due to having to use a gb kernel on an ics system.
CM7 works just fine for most and has great battery life, but if you want something fully functional, great on battery and fast, try OA rom or stock++ and stop crying Woah is me Debbie, it's extremely irritating.

I say just be happy with what you got. OA is the most stable and speediest rom for the admire in my opinion and that's all you really need. You don't necessarily need all the stuff cyanogenmod has. Sure everybody would like to see up to date roms like ics and cm9 on the admire but we know in the long run it's impossible.
