So im soon to be buying my note and i have to pay the 250 dollar att early upgrade fee BS, so i was wondering, where is the cheapest place to buy the note? i have the 50 dollar best buy gift card, but i really dont wanna end up spending 600 for the note...

May not help you, but Best Buy will also buy your old phone. I got $90 for my 32gb iPhone 3Gs with power cord. And considering the flood of those phones on eBay that was a good deal for me.

As far as the Note, $600 is about the best I've seen.

i was thinking about doing that, but the bad thing is, my 10 year old brother doesnt want his iphone anymore so my mom is getting his iphone and he is getting my SGS2, guess imma have to drop 600 bucks haha. Kinda ridiculous that you have to spend 250 to do an early upgrade, i might just buy it off contract because that would be 650 and i could do my normal upgrade in nov ish

in your situation i would absolutly buy it out right i would also advice the international version as it has some features (video editing app and another spen app) that isnt avalible on the US verzion. And i think skipping out on LTE wont be that big of a deal. espically since you wont have to change anything on your plan. ATT makes you move to a new plan for data plan and treat it dif even if its the same amount of data and same price on 3g.

i think paying 600 outright instead of signing a new contract, with all those fees, is more than worth it. Im luck i was able to purchase mine for 150 on new contract from Logicbuy.com straight from att. Otherwise i was going to go the off contract route.

if your lucky you might be able to find one on craigslist for 475-600 if your lucky. I almost purchased one for 475 before i bought mine.

Okay, i was actually looking around last night, cheapest i found off contract was 650, and that was through ATT, and they already lied to my grandfather who knows absolutely nothing about data that i dont go over 300mb a month when i had the 2gb plan, and they told him to switch, so they put me at 300 when i was already at 500 for the month so they hit him with overages, and i had to bump up to the 3gb plan...and if i get the international version, isnt it clocked at a lower speed? and wouldnt i have to pay ridiculous shipping and custom fee's and crap?
also correct me if i am wrong, but wouldnt i get updates directly from samsung and i wouldnt have to wait for the ATT bs?

The international Galaxy Note is clocked at 1.4 ghz, which doesn't matter because it has the Exynos processor. While the AT& T version has the Snapdragon S3 clocked at 1.5 ghz. The international version is much faster and better than the AT&T version sans LTE. It doesn't have any of the preloaded bloatware, and the updates come directly from Samsung. So there would be no waiting for AT&T to add and take their time with the updates.

You can order it from companies in the US, on sites like Amazon, Expansys, and Negri Electronics. Which means you don't have to pay any import fees either.

Just find out about warranty policy. My infuse has had to be replaced by att within the first year for screen burn in. I didn't have to pay a dime. I just called then and they mailed me a new (refurb) infuse. I sent the old back. No down time no waiting.

What happens if this international version has a defect?

i was wondering the same thing, but i assume i send it back to sammy?

That's the way I understand it as well. And who knows how long they will have it. With the att model they send you the replacement before you have to send yours back. No down time. Its something to consider. You may get lucky and never have an issue. With my last 2 phones I was glad I had a warranty handled by the carrier.

The home button may be cool. But you are rolling the dice on buying an international version.

Samsung products have regional warranties, so it really depends on what company you buy it from. I bought mine from Negri Electronics, if my device has any defects or problems they will send it into Samsung where the warranty is located. (Where they bought it from.) So everything will still be covered under the original warranty.

There are also several places that will sell an additional warranty that will cover drops or anything that you do to break the phone.

i need a no down time type thing, but if i buy it off contract will att still cover the warranty?

if u have a family plan just add another line... $10 month...

I thought of adding a line for 9.99 per month. However you also have to factor in the min data fee for that line. So thats another 20 per month. You may be able to reduce your current data plan on your old phone to 20 from what you may be paying now ...30 so that saves 10 dollars net. So your actual bill increase may be just 20 per month.....

When you add the 20 per month x 24 months its 480 on top of the 299. Total 779 vs 650 out of contract.

Here is another suggestion. Sell your old phone. Depending on what you are using on craigslist you can probably fetch 200-250 for a decent smart phone. That takes the cost down some.

Excellent advice. That's what we did. Our USED Skyrockets sold for $360 and $392 on e-bay two weeks ago!

i would sale my SGS2 but i gotta do the whole swapping thing because my mother is a ditz and dropped her bb torch in the dogs water bowl, so my brother is giving her his iphone 3gs, and my brother is getting my SGS2... and for me to upgrade 2 contracts it would be 500+the phones price

If you pay the early upgrade fee and then get a subsidized phone you are then signing a new 2 year contract I believe. If you buy outright you are not. That's enough incentive for me to just want to buy outright.
