Root sorry another question-just rooted phone installed a few recomended apps need help using them now

sorry about all of the questions first smartphone

i just rooted my vibrant today and I know that once you have rooted your phone you have alot more freedom. So i installed some recomended "rooted" apps like a overclock widget , cachemate and autokiller memory optimzer but.... i cant figure out how to use any of them . can someone pleaase help me ? also if anyone knows of some apps that help speed up your phone and increase battery life can you make some suggestions thanks for the help and the patience with me .

Are you planning on using an overclocked kernel, or running any custom roms? because as it stands, most of the things you downloaded aren't going to do much for you.

Alright, well the first thing I'm going to recomend is download Rom Manager from the market, and flash clockworkmod. Then make a nandroid backup of your current setup. You may also want to do a little reading on ODIN. These two things are going to save you some trouble down the road. And before you get nervous, I have bricked my phone 6 times now, and have always managed to bring her back to life.

Thanks and actually nvm on not getting a rom I've seen some on youtube and they look nice and I know that odin takes away roms or returns your phone back to default

Good luck to you, and if you have any questions, about any of this and you don't feel like sifting through threads, shoot me a PM, I'm happy to help. Pay it forward, so to speak.

ok im stuck on the "finding update package..." is that normal? its been 15 minutes. thanks

okay... Did you name your .zip file update.zip? Because if you didn't, that is your problem. Otherwise you have to go to choose .zip from SD. then actually choose the right .zip.
