Help "Sorry, the player does not support this type of audio file"

... I have had to reset my phone for it to work, which does the trick until the next day i try again on any of those programs, and lo and behold they dont work, so regardless of what phone you have it seems to be a problem running on different companies versions. if anyone has any ideas please keep posting, ....
I never had this problem before I installed the Twitter App. And I've never had it again since i deleted it.

Might help someone else.

After months of struggling with this, I went and bought a LEGIT SD 16gig micro card. I inserted it, let it format, and them copied all the music from my ORIGINAL source (hard drive). When I tried to read from the old SD card (32gig using adapter for PC) it gave me all kinds of errors, especially when reading the mp3 music I was having problems with. I found a link that explained about some SD cards that had been cloned or manufactured by fly-by-night manufacturers. Mine I got it from a coworker and had no markings on it at all. RED FLAG! I was suspecting it was the card, but was hesitant because other stuff was ok (pictures, etc) I did not want to invest in another 32gig card, but a 16gig did just fine. Hope this helps. Click.

It seems my problem was caused by corrupt/missing tags. I fixed it by adding tags to the .mp3 files. I used a tag editor (mp3tag, for example) to add tags. It didn't seem to matter which tags I added or what info I put in them. The act of adding/changing the tag rebuilt the data so the players can now play the files.

In my case, some files would play and others would not, but it was the same files all the time and rebooting did not help, so my problem may have been different than some of the others here.

In any event, I hope this helps someone.

Solution that worked for me:-
1. install one of the auto mount tool from android market.
2. restart the phone.

This has resolved problem for me. Also i have installed twitter on my phone and everything is working fine.

Explanation:-
I was facing the same issue.
I have tried following solutions but they didn't worked for me.
1. Restart phone.
2. Uninstall twitter.(temporary it was working for me, but again it was giving me the same error)
3. clear application data of music player.

I have figured out the issue, This is mostly to do with mount/unmount of sdcard. With default mounting of android, you can view files into file explorer, but i think it is not sufficient for music player(something is missing here). Even clear data of application music player is not working properly, as even after unmounting sd card, i can view mp3 folders(located on sd card) into music player.

All the Best guys, Hope that Google will come out with some better solution.

I just thought I'd add my past experience with this issue..

I had had this problem with every android phone i have owned..

I have done research, and I have done many experiments with this issue..

I have come across 3 issues' that i can find..

1. sometimes the player will play mp3 files, but with no sound.. I believe this is due to a stalled service or bug in the Android OS.. normally a phone restart will fix this..

2. sometimes the player "will not" play any mp3's or just part of them.. I believe this is due to a Sd card error or bad media indexing by the Android OS..
Sometimes a restart will fix this.. also a memory wipe, unmount & remount of the sd card..

NOTE: I forgot to add, if your Sd card is the problem sometimes it won't let you know until you unmount & remount the SD card again' during card check it will say SD card error.. once that happens the phone will not accept the Sd card until you wipe the phone memory (hard reset) or reformat the SD card' which will delete everything on it..!! the reset don't always work it will still say SD card error if it detects errors..!! so Reformatting the card is the best way to go..!!

3. Sometimes the player plays half a mp3 file then says it does not support the file or it does not recognize the mp3 file at all.. I believe this problem is due to file corruption & download interruption.. based on experiments i believe that the android download over mobile data is faulty.. no matter where you get your media if you download it to your phone over mobile data or wifi on your phone' if you don't have a good constant connection' interruptions can occur, and i don't think the android OS can compensate for too many interruptions and ends up building a file incorrectly, or missing data basically (corrupt) at the point of interruption.. I tested mp3 files that played partially on my phone with a program on my pc, it said the end stream of the mp3 files were corrupt..!! I tried everything to fix the files but nothing worked, so i deleted them and re downloaded them over a good wifi connection never had that problem again..!!

hopefully my info & experience will help a few people with these problems..!! thanks..

So I uninstalled advanced task manager anf that seems to have taken care of the problem for now...out seems as if someone already had that answer, but decided not to elaborate on it...try this out anf see if you have any luck..anything is worth a try when you can't figure it out

So how does one go about uninstalling the advanced task manager?? I'm having this problem on my Samsung Galaxy Note Tablet and I've tried rebooting, re-loading the files, trying a different player (POWER AMP and one other) and none of it has solved the problem. I notice that my iPad plays the very same files and I can also play the files from my computer on Windows Media Player.
