Is lighting an LED bad? Well I suppose in terms of longevity, yes. Using anything wares it down.

But its not like you're using an umbrella as a parachute. You're using a light as a light.

I would have thought it would be a standard ultra bright led. These generally have a lifetime of around 10000 hours. That's over a year contantly on so it will probably outlast your phone by a good decade or so!!
