Help Sorting Contact Names on SGS2

Well I finally did it and took delivery of my SGS2. What an awesome piece of kit!

I connected to Kies and synced my contacts from Outlook. Super. All well and good.

But... In my contacts on my phone it lists in alphabetical order, but by First Name.

So, for example, in the As it will list like Williams, Andrew Edwards, Anthea Baker, andy etc., etc.

When I select to show by family name it simply swaps the two names but still categorises them in order of first name.

I want to have the family names sorted alphabetically, not the first names.

Suggestions, please!

I tried that but it now shows, for example, in the "A" section:

Williams, Adrian
Cupp, Al
Maquet, Alain
Barclay, Alasdair
Martin, Andrew
Robertson, Andy

etc., etc

You see my problem?

I want it to list the surnames in alphabetical order, not the first names.

In my previous phone it displayed the first names first - that's fine, but they were grouped in alphabetical surnames.

There are options in the display which Shotgun84 pointed out. There is a
1) Sort option (by surname or firstname)
2) Display option (surname first)

Doesn't that work?

Not sure why doesn't work for you.

If you "Sort by Surname" and "Display by Surname", then it should get what you want. One thing you can check is whether the first name and surnames are input correctly into the right space. The contact details in Android have a lot of information that syncing sometimes don't pick up.

For example there is a box for Surname, Middle Name and First Name. Names might not be in the right box.
