Root SOS Help!!! SOS Root gone wrong?

I PMd OMJ but he had to leave. I was following his guid to rooting 2.2 for windows/linux. i got to the end where i'm supposed to enable mass usb storage, but my pc wouldn't find it. i asked OMJ if i could pull the battery again and place the update.zip on the card, which i did (FRG22). Now, I go to allow update.zip, install and i get

-- Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0(
(No such file or directory)
E:Can't mount SDCARD:update.zip
Installation aborted.

Please help, I new i shouldn't have rooted. I have a pit in my stomach.
 
Somehow your phone has mounted to the PC and is not available for use. Disconnect the phone from the PC, wait a few seconds and THEN install from SD Card "update.zip"
 
Ohhhh. I a thread about unrooting earlier and it said DO NOT DISCONNECT USB OR YOU WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE BEYOND REPAIR. This isn't the same?
 
If you're installing an update.zip can I safely assume that you have successfully flashed the .sbf file? You appear to be past that now.
 
I used RSD Lite and flahed the .sbf in the guide. It all appeared to go through correctly. Still same thing, even after unplugging usb, can't find sd card.
 
But you're in recovery now, right? Sounds like it. That's a positive step...

When you hold the x+power button, what happens? What are you seeing?

Goes in to recovery fine. All the options, reboot install, mount options. Just won't detect the sd card. i've restarted a couple times, same thing. I am trying the rom from the guide FRG22, should i try another one. although i don't know what good that'll do if it can't find it.
 
It's possible that it's a corrupt download. You can try loading it again (or another ROM) I think we're close to narrowing it down for you. You didn't physically remove the SD card, did you? Is it seated properly in the phone?
 
i pulled the battery and removed the SD, as OMJ said i could because my computer wouldn't find it. And the rom is on the root of the SD (main page if you will)
 
No. I get into recovery fine, but it won't read from sd. Am i totally f'd in the a? Is there any way to reverse this? Crap. I'm gonna cry. :(
 
ok.. you were already on 2.2 right? i rooted from 2.1 so im reading the guide as well trying to see where we are
 
You're not f'd. Why not power up the phone normally and check the gallery or something so we KNOW your SD card is seated right and the phone reads it. Then it's just a case of downloading the ROM again and installing a known good ROM.

You may want to charge it overnight and get a fresh start. It won't install the ROM if there's not enough juice to get through the operation... that would be kinda bad. Not catastrophic, but not good. Do you have a spare battery? Cheap on Amazon...
