Help Sound help

[t12b25]

Hi everybody. Is there a way to silence an incoming text or call?. I used to be able to press the volume down button and silence the call/text., but when I do that on the note 2 it does absolutely nothing. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Anthony.

Which version of android are you on? Do you have any apps installed that might be interfering with the phone apk? Your gona have to figure out first if this is hardware or software problem? When did it start? Give some more info...
