Help Sound issues

Today out of the blue I'm having sound issues. First noticed in my car when the bluetooth would connect but no sound. The media was playing but no sound through the bluetooth. Disconnected bluetooth and media would not play out of the back speaker. It will play through headphones. And when I disconnect headphones, the media will not stop as it used to. Its almost as if the phone continually thinks there are headphones plugged in. The speaker will play sounds (i.e. when hitting vol up with the ringer on max), but no google music or google listen, youtube, etc. I did a battery pull and that did nothing. I really want to avoid a hard reset if at all possible.

Any ideas folks?
 
Are you rooted,custom rom,kernel? Do you have a volume app installed? somewhere the settings have been changed is what i think it could be.
 
stock ICS. Had volume control + installed but never had the issue. Uninstalled it today and rebooted but issue persists.
 
Maybe reinstall the app and change the volume settings i have not used that app. If your not rooted i do not understand why the volume problem would exist besides bad software? sux to do a hard reset but maybe it will get your volume issue into the green?
