Sound quality on the Atrix (Headphones)

So, I bought an Inspire a few days ago. Quite like it, except for two things:

1) While I like the 4.3" screen size, the phone just feels a little too big. While this isn't a severe issue by any means, it does bother me a bit. The Inspire has also proven a tad difficult to remove from my pants pocket, due to the awkward way it sits in there. So, I'm thinking about trading-in for the Atrix.

2) The sound quality on the headphones with the Inspire is dreadful. Absolutely, stunningly dreadful. It has to be turned-up to almost full volume for even decent sound, and even then it sounds a bit tinny. Now, I have some nice headphones. When they are plugged into my MacBook (and into my iPhone, when I had one), they sound great. Nice treble, deep bass, etc.) But on the Inspire... awful. So, I'm wondering what folks think of the headphone sound quality on the Atrix?

Any input on this would be greatly appreciated.

I'm using Sony ear buds for music, they cost $50 don't know the model number. I"m using PowerAmp as my player and they sound pretty good, better than my Iphone 3GS I used before.

Nice deep bass I can even hear when I'm riding my motorcycle going down the road at 80MPH.
 
I'm satisfied with the SQ on the Atrix. I also use PowerAmp but I turn EQ and Tone off. I use a pair of Sennheiser IEMs but can not remember which since I got them 5 years ago. I never feel the need to go over 12/15 on the volume and there is no shortage of bass or quality. Listening to my ATH-M50s with it now and it sounds great.
 
Atrix SQ is great imo. With or without headphones. My 3gs was tough to hear a lot of the time. Not with the Atrix so far.
 
I wondered: Has anybody else had issues with audiobooks/Podacsts and in ear phones? I just tried two pairs and there is a lot static noise! However I don't have that issue with speakers...

Edit:
I found the problem! It was in the Sound Settings -> Media audio effects -> Wired stereo devices, I had enabled audio effects... That made the sound horrible! It's good now. I'm glad I could solve that...

I use the headphone jack a lot. I have a pair of Sony ear buds and the sound is great. (Both playing through headphones and car audio speakers.) I'm not sure how I'm able to do this, I can have a phone conversation with the earbuds in and the person on the other end can still hear me well. (These are regular ear buds.) I was able to do the same, with my Backflip, as well with same ear buds.
 
Audio effects make my atrix sound absolutely terrible. Don't then them on is all I gotta say. The stock sound is perfect though.
