Help Sounds.... Another question please.

Folks,

Forgive me as I am still new here.

I have posted a "problem" I have, but I was wondering if I could ask for some "help" here for an APP which may make my life a bit easier while I have this intermittant problem.



Is ther such as APP which I could run to "re-re-set" the sounds I set.
Now and then the sounds are re-set to the default and it is annoying.

When I detect it, I have the fun going through setting the noises back to what I want. This is annoying.

I thought when I set the sounds they were "saved" somewhere.

But setting the sounds again and again, and again...... It is annoying.


Anyone?

This used to happen to me all the time. I noticed that it happen everytime after i had plugged into my computer as a disk drive. It can and will happen sometimes for other reasons but it seems that a big part of that is not having the sounds saved in the correct file structure, ie
Sd card>media>audio>ringtones and alarms and notifications (three separate files)
Put anything you want to use as ringtones in ringtones, put text/email notifications in notifications folder and so on.

Yeah, well I TRIED that, but the two/three ring tones I want are too big.

They are rips from songs. Maybe short-ish but still too big to fit in the phone's memory.

WRT using the phone as a disc.

Yes, I can sort of accept that, but I have only ever done that maybe twice/three times since I bought the phone.

Otherwise it is only "internet sharing" when I plug it into the PeeCee.



Now, I think I messes up how I explained what I am trying to do.

Is there an APP so I click it and the sounds - where ever they are stored - are set back to the ring tone, message tone, etc?

First off your phones memory? Your not saving them on SD card? Or you mean they are just too long to be used as ringtones? In that case use ringdroid from the market, can turn any mp3 into the perfect sized ringtone

Well, we have some confusion here.

I "rip" the MP3 with a PC program and save them as MP3.
These sounds/tone/what ever are saved on the SD card.

I use "music" to set them as ring tones, etc.

But are you saying I have to use "ringdroid" to make then work "better"?

RingDroid is mostly for when you have a mp3 file that is too big to be used as a ringtone/notification. Zedge is a great app to get and set ringtones as well.

Well, something else I have noticed:
Irrispective of size, using the OI file program (or Astro) I can NOT put files in the phone's media/.../.../..../ directory.

It won't let me.

Just now I am COPYING a file (midi format) which is 37.00B size.
I select COPY go to the phone, system/media/audio/ringtones and select "Copy here".

"Could not copy file."

Really discriptive to why.

Hi, one question, if possible (HTC Desire): I did make folders: ringtones, notifications, etc. and put one sound I want to be notification sound there. But I still can not figure out how to set it: menu gives you choice of setting it as ringtone but not as notification sound. Any help? Another thing: profile is on Normal but phone DOES NOT ring. I can not understand why.
