Spam SMS Filtering Software needed

Hi,

Have recently bought an android phone (Nexus One) and am looking for a good app to block spam message. I get close to 20 everyday. And often an rather odd hours.

Have tried a lot of apps with no/little success.

Am basically looking to filter out spam based on 2 simple criterion.

1. I have a list of keywords. If any message has that word/symbol (case insensitive) the message should get blocked. Eg. bhk, %, free

2. However, a message from a person in my contacts should not get blocked. Irrespective of the message containing any of the 'keywords'.

That's all. Can't seem to find an app that would do this robustly.

Any help?

Cheers,

Roy

List the apps that you've tried just so we don't recomend the apps you've already tried.

Anti SMS Spam seems to be the app you're looking for. I believe both of your criterions are met.

Others I found: https://market.android.com/details?...pment.easyfilter.android&feature=related_apps

Hey

I have tried AntiSMS, Blacklist, Handcent Filter and AntiSMS Spam.

I thought I had finally found the perfect solution with Anti SMS Spam. However it did not recognize contacts in my phonebook. Thus a lot of wanted SMS's got blocked.

Through one of the 'related' links on the links above I installed something called 'Postman'. They've advertised that it blocks all service messages. Should party work as 95% of all spam is service message. So lets soo.

Thanks and Cheers,

Wow... I've never had a spam SMS on UK or Irish networks I've used.

What network are you on?

Am on Vodafone. In India that is. Get close to 20 Spam SMS's per day. Everything from Slim Sauna Belts to Real Estate deals to MBA admission notifications.

Quite a pain. Especially if you - don't need to lose weight, can't afford property and are already pursuing an MBA :)

Cheers,

Lol.. there must be different laws about selling on your mobile number in India.. what a pain... but at least you know should you ever need a Slim Sauna Belt ;-)

Roy, contact the developer of anti-sms, and tell him or her that you love the app but have one issue where it blocks some of your contacts. Say that you see this as a big issue from making the app the best on the market. Some devs go out of their ways to make the app the best it can be. They might not have realized they had an issue. I do this all the time :) Sometimes they implement my ideas, sometimes they don't but there's no harm trying.
