There's no easy fix, unfortunately. Posts are removed as soon as they're seen, and steps taken to prevent reoccurence, but it's a constant battle.

When it comes to spam, the report button is your friend. You shouldn't treat it like a red-headed stepchild.

Being retired, I am up all hours of the night which seems to be when the spammers are at their worst.

I report all of the spammers that I see, multiple reports are useful, just in case no one else has seen it yet... and mods work crazy hours too some times....
I mod a forum elsewhere

If so is there any bot protection upon sign up? Captcha for example? (I've been here for donkeys years so can't remember lol

We don't like to talk about anti-spam measures a lot, past, present, or future.

Putting that in public is kinda like sharing your play book with the other team before the big game.

If you are speaking about spam in posts, then why not have a report button somewhere where those of us who can preview the post w/o opening it don't have to open the post to report it.

Tap the person's name. If they have a few posts and they're selling something, it's spam.

Click here for wrinkle cream - it's spam. There's nothing to preview.

If you're not looking at a post how can you know what it says?

You can also report a user by going to their profile page and clicking Report on the right side, but it's easier to view and report the actual post. Do you mean having a report button next to every post when viewing a forum so you don't have to click the thread?

I was assuming zuben was referring to people creating threads with spam since that's 95% of the spam posts I've seen here.

The other thing to remember (for the benefit of less experienced members reading this thread) is that you only need to report one spam per account. If one account is posting multiple spams there is no need to report each one, they'll all be dealt with once that account is flagged.

I agree,I'm up rather late sometimes and that is when the forum gets a lot of them and I use the crap out of the Report button.

No harm reporting every post either my other friend. The moral is you don't need to go out of your way to find every post by a spammer, but there is also no harm in multiple reports on a spammer. You will not overburden us Mods with multiple reports on a single spammer.
