Spare phone

Do I need a phone that is activated for me to experiment with rooting or doing mods?

Was thinking buying spare EVO.

save your money....if you just plan on flashing roms you dont need that, just make sure you create backups

Just do it. If you brick the phone THEN buy a new one. Why buy it before knowing if you'll brick the phone. If you root and it works fine then you now have a second phone for now reason...

Yeah, I really a cell phone, so I'll probably just maybe a Boost phone for back up? In case I news up the EVO.
