SPB mobile shell 5.0 (Coming to Android)

I don't know if anyone has seen this, but it sounds great!!!!!

Mobile Shell is my favorite interface replacement tool for Windows Mobile. It completely overhauls the interface and allows you to customize your home screens with widgets, notifications, and much more. We're hearing that Mobile Shell 5.0 will be shown at Mobile World Congress for WinMo, Android, and Symbian, offering "breathtaking 3D functionality" and "a huge number of widgets", which we'll be excited to see. What happened to version 4.0, you ask? For some reason, the number 4 is considered unlucky (you may recall that Microsoft released Windows 95 instead of "Windows 4").

SAAAAAWEEEEEET! I loved SPB on winmo, they always make some awesome software. Forget about sweeter home, gde, dxtop and all that other stuff. It is GARBAGE compared to SPB.

Yup, I had it on my Winmo phones also.

Can't wait to see it shown off at MWC.:)

I used Mobile Shell on my old WinMo phone. It was truly like having a new phone. Night/day difference.

Curious to see what they will do w/ Android. With all the good home replacement options already out there, not sure they'll get anywhere if they come in trying to charge $30.

I think it really depends on how rockin it is.

Nothing will match the level of customization offered by SweeterHome.

Agreed. Mobile shell was fun on WinMo but it was very laggy and difficult to customize. SH has its faults like widgets updating and FC's here and there but after all it is a beta app. Also customizing SweeterHome is fairly easy to pick up just by deconstructing an existing theme to see how the nuts and bolts fit together.

SweeterHome's latest version 727 is practically perfect. I have not had 1 FC in two days. At very worst it is a little laggy returning to the homescreen, about 1 sec or less.

SH may have lots of customization but it is nowhere near as polished as SPB was on winmo. Also with SH you have to get everything tuned just how you want it, which is definitely awesome. But with SPB your ready to go out of the box, and you can still customize things if you want to.

+1....I agree.

SPB was great on winmo cause you needed it to make the phone work worth a damn. I am not sure if it is going to be as cool on androind. because its almost not needed.

Hey, I'm back to lovin' my Sweeter Home due to this latest release. But I am always willing to look at alternatives. Can't wait to check it out.

I'm excited. SPB Mobile Shell looks awesome. I was thinking about it when I had the TouchPro2. Not sure if I'd want to fork out anything near the $30 they charge on WinMo though.

Honestly, SPB Mobile Shell appears to be the inspiration behind Sweeter Home ... or vice-versa. And if Mobile Shell is easier to edit and/or navigate, bring it!

This is great news! I hope guys like mskip and all the other ones that came out themed spbms will support android...
I have had spb ms 2 & 3 on my treo and omnia before getting the droid. It really helps for people that use their phones for business, task management, etc...

Doubt MSkip will get into Android any time soon. Plenty of good Android people on XDA tho. I ran the Beta of MS3 on my Kaiser, and I liked it, especially the contacts carousel. But I didn't like it enough to drop $30. I just stuck with the TPC rom of the week. ;-)

If they preview this app on the 15th when would we be able to buy it? I am surprised there are no leaked videos! These guys have great security.

I still use a WinMo phone (for work) and had SPB on my personal phone. Since I've switched carriers for my personal phone, I wonder if I'll get a price break on updating to SPB5 and move it to my Droid. I love what it does for WM phones, it'll be cool to see what it does for our Android phones.
