Speaker Audio Quality

Siddd

Newbie
Hi all,

I have been using Incredible S for two weeks now. I had only used Nokia phones before this, so I am just loving the Android/HTC sense Experience!

But to my surprise the audio quality of the speaker seems to terribly poor.. One reason could be that the speaker is on the backside of the phone which I find to be very weird...

And same goes for the audio quality with earphones plugged while listening to music.

Before ordering the handset, I had read and seen tons of reviews and some of them did mention the above issues.. but I didn't pay attention back then. And it is pinching me a bit now..

Is this a problem that others are also experiencing? This seems to be a hardware issue so does it make sense to report this issue to HTC to see if they can resolve it via a firmware update.. Heard the Gingerbread 2.3 is coming soon.

Looking forward to comments and suggestions.

Thanks
Sidd

pretty much all HTC phones have poor quality audio. I have a Desire and the speaker quality is not very good.. Anyone with a Desire will back me up on that. As for the headphones you can make that better by getting PowerAmp or PlayerPro from the market.. they are alternative music player apps that have lots of advanced options to make audio that little bit better :) - by the way they will also make the speaker sound a little better but not much as the speaker itsself isnt great :P

Thanks ajh94. Power amp is simply superb ! Much much better than the HTC music player..

The Android market is flooded with applications and it is almost impossible to identify useful ones especially for a newbie like me.. Could you share any web links to other useful apps?

Interesting... I have a Nokia 5800 XM which serves me very well while commuting and listening to music with headphones. Sound quality is pretty good... I wonder if going with any HTC phone would be a step back... I would prefer to have a good music player out of the box instead of downloading apps to improve that! Wondering if Samsung phones suffer from the same problem...

I too had 5800 XM before moving to Incredible S so I am THE person you are looking for!

Trust me, the audio quality is not upto standards. XM was much better. If you are looking for a music phone with great audio quality then stay away from Incredible S. Check out reviews of Samsung, it should definitely be better than this.. I did research and had concluded that the audio is not going to be great. But I didn't know it would be so bad..

But then again, I love the phone overall..

hmm cool!! Thanks for the heads up! Galaxy S II is coming out in a month but I'm afraid the price might be too steep... we'll see! May get around with a Nexus S
