Speaker on car kit

I Installed speaker on when in car kit. WTF the car kit blocks the speaker, so the volume sucks. Do you have to drill holes in the damn thing, or is there a way to increase speaker volume when in car kit?

there is a thread where a guy did just that and one for his camera. he said it worked really well.
