Accessories Speakerphone cover material.

Does anyone know where to get the material that htc uses to cover the speakerphone on the Incredible? Ive tried a few different fabrics with no luck. I am on my 4th one with a blown speakerphone due to metal shavings and dust collecting on the speaker. An exact cut to fit replacement would be great so I can layer it.

Thanks.

What about using material from womens nylons and stretch/glue a small piece of it to the back cover. Then the shavings couldn't even get to the speaker cover and it shouldn't reduce the sound too much??????

Just a thought..........

I never thought of using nylons before. I have just used some fabric that is close to what is on there now and glued to the back of the cover. I havent found any yet that is as tightly woven as the stock fabric and still lets sound through. I am going to try the nylons though that sounds like it could work. I actually have a replacement waiting for me so before I send the current one back I might test its ability.

I have now fitted it with an under armour type material (Wal-Mart version) that seems to be quite denser than the stuff i have previously had. It doesn't seem to be dampening the sound too much at all either.

Here is a video on how to replace the speaker YouTube - Broadcast Yourself. I guess the nokia 6300 is an almost perfect replacement and only costs about 3 dollars on ebay.

Has anyone ever replaced their stock speaker with one of these? I'm going to be doing this in the next few weeks sometime, and I'm wondering if the quality of the 6300 is better or worse than the stock speaker...

I have replaced my speaker and several of my friends speakers with the Nokia 6300 and it works perfectly. I think it actually sounds a little deeper that the original OEM speaker. The You Tube video tells you all that you need to know. It takes me maybe 3 minutes to do it.

I would like to point out that the metal shavings that people are seeing are actually coming from the speaker and not from loose ferrous metals that the phone may be exposed to. That is why they are inside the protective fabric. If you split the phone as shown in the You Tube speaker replacement video, you can vacuum it out and that will improve the sound immensely however it will be short lived because the speaker is rattling itself apart

I got my HTC INC. Dec 31 and just became one of the blown speaker customers, but haven't seen any posts after February or so. Has HTC improved this design?

I see so many posts on people on their 3rd, 4th+ Incredible and I don't want to waste my time getting a refurb and 'starting fresh' when I can replace it with a better speaker. Can anybody give us an update on these Nokia 6300 speakers? Are they still holding up and are they a proven better design?

I just tried gently taking my 'VOID' sticker off the screw with a pocket knife and it came off without notice and went back on just as nice so I'm OK with that. Need a T6 screwdriver or bit still.

Thank you!!

I replaced my blown speaker with the Nokia 6300 speaker from eBay about a month ago. My Inc has never sounded better!
