Specs: HTC Incredible VS Samsung Galaxy S

The Iphone OS 4 is everything I've been using on my android phones for the past year...

In ( ) is my opinion...
  • Multitasking. (LMAO, Finally! they finally joined EVERYONE ELSE! G1 was able too.. Droid, and Incredible will too! hahahahhaha)

  • Spell check (our keyboards can do that...to an extent.. they fix the misspelled words, so big deal?)
  • Bluetooth keyboard support (I dont think.. so +1 to them lol.. I wouldn't use it!)
  • User-defined wallpaper (HAHAHAHAHAH FINALLY!!!) WOW!!

  • Tap to focus when recording video, just like with photos, and a 5x digital zoom for the camera. (We have zoom with our cameras too....)
  • Playlist creation and nested playlists. (They do have better media.. So +2 lol)
  • App folders for sorting apps! You can even put an app folder in the dock. (LMAO, finally! We could do this on 1.0!!) G1 favorite! ;)
  • Enhanced Mail! You can have a merged inbox view, switch between inboxes quickly, and sync to more than one Exchange account. There's also threaded messaging (at last!) and in-app attachment viewing. (hmmm Motoblur much???)
  • iBooks, just like on iPad, only smaller. You can wirelessly sync books between platforms, a la Kindle. (yeah kindle 1.0...)
  • Enterprise features, including remote device management and wireless app distribution. (That could be cool)
  • Game Center. It's like Xbox Live, but for iPhone games. Includes achievements, leaderboards, and match making. It will be available as a "developer preview," and out for consumers later this year. (same with this...But who sits on their phone all day??)
So in conclusion! Big let down besides finally catching up to everyone else! They will just release a bunch of nice hardware to use average software.. Whatever. Android > Apple

iPhone OS 4 still doesn't fully multitask, like Android, webOS, WinMo, PalmOS, Symbian, Maemo, and everything else does. It allows apps to use certain background "services."
I use Swype, it has awesome spellcheck.
Folders and better app for their 3.2 MP cameras... LOL. I'm getting an Incredible.
And TouchWiz = crap. I had a Rogue for a few days, then returned it.

People can laugh all they want about limited multi-tasking, but I think Apple will highlight their battery life vs. Android. When the iPhone comes out advertising that can run 12 hours of heavy use vs. 6 hours w an Android device and its still able to do everything people think of as multi-tasking, then we can see who's done it best.

With a 1ghz A4 chip?

HA HA! HA! HA!!! HA!!! HA!!!!! AAAAAA HA!! HA!!! HA!! HA!! HA!!!!!!!!

Hooooo that was a good one. Thanks for the laugh. You probably dont even know what chips will be in the Iphone 4g yet you make these outlandish claims. Its very funny.

If your device is made by HTC (Dream, Magic, Legend, Desire, Hero, Incredible) you can get a massive extended battery from Seidio for ~$60 (usually around 3800mAh) that gives you better life than the iPhone even if you have a live wallpaper, GPS, WiFi, 3G, and a bunch of apps in the background.

It'll probably be another Cortex A8, I don't see Apple putting a Snapdragon in anything soon.

A4 is not cortex. It's "apples" "in-house" chip. It's in the ipad.
Yes it is a Cortex core. Apple does not have the engineers or know how to design CPUs. Every SOC is based on the same cortex core in these new smartphones. Yes snapdragon and A4 use the same exact CPU core design from ARM its the SOC that is different which is why they are able to name it their own like "A4" or "snapdragon" those names refer to the SOC not the CPU core.

ARM does not even Mfr the cores all they do is sell the design.

I think he means Apple is using their own in-house chips that has been rumored around. I think the rumor started less than a year ago when they were reportedly looking for a way to dump Intel and work on their own CPU. I think Apple does have the engineers and the know-how; even if they don't, they'll just acquire a company which does.

Does it make sense? Well they went from IBM to Intel and... rumors say that they want to produce their own in-house CPU to cut down on costs. Yeah, in that sense it's financially sound. To have something under wraps by the time an (already leaked) iPhone 4th-gen is out in the wild? ... Not bloody likely.

Apple is very good at marketing and a tough competitor. Look at the trend. One of the biggest selling points in all their laptops for the last two iterations has been improved battery life based on their own technology. The just released Macbook Pro is supposed to have a 10 hour battery life. How many laptops as compact as Apple's have that sort of battery life.
The iPad is advertised to have a battery life of 10 hours of use.

The multi-tasking limitations they've built into iPhone OS 4.0 have been to attempt to limit power consumption for what is normally considered background tasks.

The leaked iPhone 4G has a larger battery while likely consuming less power.

I don't know what the numbers will be, be it seems likely the Apple will try to make battery life an issue and claim the high ground.
