I actually think they put some thought into that expected timeframe, it wasn't meant to be taken literally, but instead it puts us in a frame of mind not to expect it right away (aka Spring)....technically speaking Summer begins 6/21, but any time in late May - early June feels kind of Summerish, so if they said Spring 2010 instead of Summer 2010 they would be faced with a lot more impatient people when the end of April rolls around.

1. "BY" summer - meaning anytime before summer to the beginning of summer
2. summer - anytime after 6/21 the official start of summer

Still...I'm a first adopter of the Palm Pre. So anything shorter than f***ing 6 months of waiting from CES 2009 to summer 2009 is better

Well, according to Sprint's Official Site, it won't be out by Summer, but coming out in Summer. Period. That's why I assumed these May and even April release dates were not credible based off of common knowledge.

@acp - That just might be it, but that would only hype the phone up even more, imo.

Cool. Still less than 6 months :) This summer will bring a lot of phones from all manufacturers and carriers so it's gonna be some fun times. Even though I'm pretty locked on the EVO, I still might want to check out the other Sprint android phones. AND I can't wait to see what Apple has to bring for the iPhone (June 28 - July 2)
 
will add in my 2 cents.. heard from a good source april 16h= unveil to the public day and the day best buy starts preorders ...

another rumor sprint pushing for a late may release originally was gonna be june but maybe sprint thinking for once?

just rumors release dates from mid may to june 6th. Take it with a grain of salt.

all I know is I cant decide between the evo and the lg aloha or the samsung Galaxy S or galaxy S pro ( assuming we get lucky and get the latter 2) so we shall see thier is another LG android phone coming for sure to sprint was leaked earlier this year suppose to be based on the LG panda..

You're taking "Summer 2010" too literally. I think most consider after Memorial Day to be the unofficial start to summer.

And you might be right. I just thought I'd speak it out, never thought it was ground-breaking information on a release date. Again, just an over-analysis.
 
For my first post I was going to see if anyone as word on the suppy at release. Will it be a long wait to get one or will they have tons to sell.
 
I really hope google supports HTC throughout that whole stupid apple lawsuit. I don't want the court to order HTC to stop shipments. That whole lawsuit is really pissing me off

I can tell a lot of people are upset with Apple right now. I was worried before the EVO was announced at CTIA, but I feel more confident now. About a month has gone by since HTC was slapped with the lawsuit and all the big companies involved (including Microsoft which has touch screen phones) have had some time to figure it out. From what I read in early March, the suit could go on for years and would more than likely be settled out of court. It might even get thrown out altogether. I don't think Apple has the power to stop the EVO. If they did, do you think Sprint would have announced the phone?

The rumors are going around again, but I don't think anything new has been said. I just think Job's and his crew are trying to cast doubt and it's working, but I'm not going to play into their hand. By talking about it, we're just helping to spread the rumors, so I say enough is enough.

If HTC comes out and says the EVO 4G phone is barred from entering the country, then we'll have some to complain about, but not until then. That's my 2 cents.
 
im not worried. arent companies getting hit with lawsuits all the time? its not like toyota has completely stopped selling cars..

That's a completely different scenario. But I agree HTC isn't going to let a lawsuit stop them, especially if the hearing won't even be for years to come.
 
Most people seem to think it will be settled out of court anyway. The copyrights and patents are way to generalized and out dated when applied to phones and technology. There are only so many ways to do things like open an app or unlock the phones screen.
 
Yeah it definitely fizzled off. The reason I created it is because I don't think that any "rumors" or things that aren't officially released should go into the "official EVO" thread. I just wanted a different channel to which people can post things from each of their "sources" I admit I've been posting in the official thread as well so oh well
