I am looking for a speech to text app where it will save the text as a text file that I can link up through Dropbox to my computer. does such an app exist?

You can use any note taking app (I prefer Note Everything) and just use the bot in Speech to Text which even works without a data connection. Then when you are done the file created by the note app can be shared to Dropbox.

Huh, what? I haven't heard of anything like that but would love to find it.
Are you talking about this App?

I downloaded it and it seems to need to access the internet to work (as I would expect for a program that uses Android/Google TTS engine).

No, I'm talking about Google Search which is preinstalled on almost every Android phone. As long as you are on Android 4.1+ it will work without a data connection (it will try to access the Internet because it is more accurate but will work fine without a connection).

The search term you need is offline voice recognition. I did a search on it the other day but haven't felt like putting in the effort of downloading and testing a bunch of apps.
