Help Speech-to-text Problem

I recently purchased the Note 2 about 2 weeks ago. I was able to set the speech to text with the language options of English and Cantonese. Whenever I pulled up the mic in a text, right away there would be the option bar showing "English" and if I click on it I can choose Cantonese. Yesterday, I had to return this Note 2 because the backlights did not work.

Now, I am trying to set the speech to text languages again but it does not work. I am about to choose both languages in the settings, but when I test it out in a text message and click the mic, there is no bar that says "English". It just goes straight to recording in English. I have to wait about 4-5 seconds before the options comes up and even then when I press that area to change the language, it doesn't work. Am I doing something wrong? I did exactly what I did last time on the other Note 2.

Try this, go to Setting -> Language and input -> Google voice type setting -> Download offline speech recognition then download Cantonese HK. See if that works.

I already downloaded that too but it doesn't work. I know its possible since the Note 2 before I could do it fine.

I just tried it and I got the box in the middle top that said "English" with a triangle at the corner. When I tap on the English box, it lets me choose another language. I am not sure what is the difference in setting on your new Note II.

The other Note 2 had the same thing. Right when I click the mic that is already there, and then I choose the other language and it is fine. This new Note 2 I have now, when I click on the mic that option isn't there until I wait about 5 sec, then it pops up. Then I click Cantonese, and then it disappears. You would think from there it is in Cantonese mode, but it stays on English, until I do that whole process AGAIN before it will finally take that mode.
