Help Speed Dial?

Can you not do speed dial or direct dial with the nexus?

There is a direct dial widget that, well, directly dials a contact.

I haven't found a long press of a number to initiate a speed dial. Samsungs support pages said to create a speed dial widget "direct Dial" for your speed dial numbers.
