Speeding up WiFi!

Found this on another forum and didn't see it mentioned here, but it sure worked for me.

Go to Menu -> Settings -> Wireless and networks -> Wi-Fi Settings, then hit Menu again -> Advanced, and select "Best Wi-Fi performance." Not sure what it changed but it sure did work. I'll have to remember and run a speed check to see what the differences are.

It also notes that it "may" decrease battery life.

Your WI-FI performance would really depend on the internet provider, the routers performance, and current traffic.

Depends on whether you are accessing a public wi-fi or a home network wi-fi. you didn't specify.

Yeah I found that option on my own when I was browsing through the phone. I haven't really noticed any difference...then again, I haven't been looking at speed that much haha

maybe now the phone will find and use my n network.
my router sends out two signals, one for g and one for n. the phone has been only picking up the g signal. will test this theory when i get home to the n router.
i have both n & g network adapters at home. the n finds and connects as well as the g.
yeah!

Keep in mind that this will SIGNIFICANTLY drain your battery faster. It provides extended range and N compatibility but at a big cost.

It killed my battery turning this option on. With it off, I have trouble with Winamp and streaming from Shoutcast. With it on, not one skip or stutter in the stream. But, I'm not wasting my battery over it.
