Root Splash Screen and Boot Animations

Would it be possible to compile information about the creation and application of custom splash screens and boot animations for the Incredible in one central sticky? What little I've seen on the subject seems to be spread all over the place and not necessarily in the Incredible sub forums.
 
when they say put the file on the "root" of your sd card, is that just on the sd card and in no folder, because i can't get this to work.
 
its not finding it at all, i boot into hboot, and then what? it said it would prompt me to update, but its not.
 
I put the zip on my sd card, reboot into hboot, then it gives me options for fastboot and recovery and such, then what?

then volume down followed by power press very quick and you will get where you want to go and from there scroll down to the desire command and use your trackpad to select, power to go back and such...
 
When you put the PB31IMG.zip in the root of your SD Card (It must be the SD Card) you reboot into HBOOT(volume down and power at the same time) ... when HBOOT does its check it will find the zip file and ask if you would like to flash it .. you would press vol up for yes and vol down for no.

it will flash and ask you if you want to reboot. if it doesnt find your PB31IMG.zip there is something wrong with it.
 
I recently loaded the Nexus One boot ani on my rooted incred running skyraider 2.5.2 and it caused the phone to continously loop the boot animation. Friend of mine got it going again, but I am curious what possibly caused this?
 
I see where it does a check of the sd card, it flashes really quick, but is not finding it.. oh well try again later
 
i did everything listed in the steps..... went in to hboot mode and did the update for the file PB31IMG.zip and the only different image that showed up in the boot was the 3 droid guys on the skateboard. my custom image didnt show. grr..... suggestions?
 
Just wondering if you ever figured out what happened. I also changed my boot splash screen and get a continuous loop randomly. A battery pull fixes it for a while

nope, never figured it out. going to work on it some more tomorrow. just got back from vacation so i havent had a chance to work on it yet
