Root splash screen zip

Does anyone have the zip to change the splash screen being that 2fast site is down. I would really appreciate it if someone could share it.

If you are using a rooted stock rom, you can replace the file "Boost_bootanimation.zip" with most other boot animations you can find out on the web. Just google "android boot animation", then you should find plenty.
Find a boot animation you like and download it to your sdcard, remount your system partition r/w , then either delete or rename the original file ( found in the folder /system/customize/resource ) and copy the new file over to the directory I just mentioned and rename it "Boost_bootanimation.zip". Execute "chmod 644 Boost_bootanimation.zip" (sets read and write permissions for user and read permissions for group and other ) and "chown root:root Boost_bootanimation.zip" (sets owner and group to root [if you have used a root shell, you can skip the chown'ing] ) on the file. Reboot into recovery and clear cache and dalvik cache, just to be safe and you will have a new custom "boot animation" or "splash screen" as you called it.

And I would recommend using a boot animation size 960x540 (pixel) or smaller, since this is the maximum screen size.

He is not refering to the bootanimation but the splash screen. Two different things. And the splash can not be modified through the firmware but needs to be flashed or dd write in order to change it.

Here is the thread for the splash utility the link is backup

http://2fastroms.com/showthread.php?5345-How-To-Custom-Splash-Screens-7-11-12

If you need the stock image (for example you flashed IcedSpeed ROM and are needing to return to stock PM me and I will see.if Grad still has the stock one)

[How-To] Custom Splash Screens [7/11/12]

That would be one way (to create one), but you can also just replace "hTC_bootanimation.zip" ["HTC quielty brilliant" screen] . That is the very first screen that is displayed. No need to dd or anything.....
Why don't we just wait and see what the guy actually wants to replace.

Actually the bootanimarion and the Splash screen are two different things altogether. The hTC_bootanimation.zip you are referencing to is not the Splash screen but another bootanimation and no it is not the first screen you see when the phone boots, that screen in a whole different image. The Splash screen does not reside on either the data or the system partitions and you can not alter it via changing any of the firmware files. I know this because when I developed IcedSpeed ROM I had a custom Splash flashed with the ROM not a bootanimation but a Splash. Obviously you are mistaking bootanimations with the system Splash screen. The Splash is the very first screen you see when booting up your phone and BEFORE the actual bootanimation kicks on. The Splash needs to be a .img file not a zip. His reference to 2fastroms.com is a reference to the Splash screen utility developed by 2fast that allowed the converting of a .bmp to a .img file and then a script that writes the Splash via fastboot to the appropriate partition where it resides apart from the ROM. You can also dd write to the Splash partition or flash a new one via a zip file on CWM (to get more technical the updater-script used to write in CWM uses a dd command) BTW the proper partition where the Splash resides in mmcblk0p19 where your ROM and data occupy 26 & 27 so modifying a file in the ROM will never change the Splash.

Also the bootanimation can reside in customize/resources but not always the case a simple edit to customize/CID/default.xml can change the location as this files contains the path to the boot animation. As was done in the development of xFuZZiiOn ROM, and I think we might have done so also on IcedSpeed ROM.

But seeing that he is asking for a Splash Screen zip utility to change his Splash, HOSTED on 2fastroms.com then it is obvious it is the link I posted as we have not to date posted any bootanimations on the site he refers to for the Kingdom.

Your method is not even close to modifying the system Splash. What I posted is THE method not ONE to make a Splash.

I am not a n00b sir (or maam) I know the difference between a booranimation and the System Splash screen. I bet you anything that if you replace the HTC_bootanimation (quietly brilliant) that you refer to it will still show up as that is no animation but a single image residing on a seperate partition as I have expressed above.

Did you download the zip utility? Did you use the utility to convert your image to a .img and tried using the script? I assume you are in windows. More than glad to help you but exactly what image are you wanting to use, and is it in the right resolution? (The link has all the instructions) Eitherway give me a detail of where exactly you are having problems at and I will gladly help you out. I have an image you can flash in a flashable zip but not sure you want to sport my avatar and screen name on your phone, or the other one which is 2fasts Pontiac phoenix as your splash....lol
