Help Spotify on Hero. Memory card problem

BoDavis

Lurker
Hi

I've just registered for Spotify Premium so I can listen on my HTC Hero.
However when I try load it says there's a problem with my memory card and that I should get a new one or reformat.

I'm not really clued up on the technical side so I want to know:
What will be wiped eg. phone numbers, apps etc when I reformat.
How do I save my phone numbers to my laptop?

Unless somebody knows a way to get spotify without reformatting?

Thankyou

Everything on the sd card will be wiped if you format it.

Just copy everything from your sd card into a folder on your computer, format the card, then put it all back.

Thanks for your reply Jammy.

I've just taken my memory card out and all my contacts are still there.
Does this mean I don't need to backup my phone numbers before reformatting the card?

Yeah, phone numbers are stored on the internal memory.

But make sure you backup everything on the sd card...

Nothing mega-important is stored on your sdcard; apps, SMS, contacts, etc are all stored on the phone's own internal memory. Your sdcard only stores media files and some files used by your apps (but not the apps them selves). That's why you can mount the phone to the PC without anything going wrong.

Just mount the card to the PC, copy all of the files off of the card to the desktop, format the card, copy the files back and unmount the card. You won't even be able to tell anything was done.

Thanks for the advice so far.

Right, so I reformatted my 2gb memory card but I'm still getting the same message.

"There appears to be something wrong with your memory card. Spotify is unable to continue. You can try to reformat the memory card (but you will lose all your data on it if you do), or replace it."

Where's the problem? I'm sure Android will say spotify and vica versa.

Anyone else with this problem?

Jimbo
