[Sprint] 3rd Generation Evo Speculation

LoL! =D

I guess I should have included a hologram projector too? hehe

Lol, what were we thinking... Of course it has to have a holographic projector! ;)

I admit that it took me a little while to get accustomed to the EVO 3D screen after the EVO 4G but I am sooo happy with my EVO 3D. Using MHL is absolutely awesome and web browsing is so smooth and fast. I use this thing to peruse the forums and post and admit that I use it way more than my laptop or netbook. I have everything I need right here!

What did you mean by narrow screen? Are you saying you didn't like how the Evo 3D screen was narrower than the Evo 4G? If so, then I hate to break it to you, but a 720p screen has the same aspect ratio as the Evo 3D (which is the same aspect ratio of 1080p), so a 720p Evo HD will be just as narrow as the Evo 3D...

We're talking the difference between 16:10 (Evo 4G) and 16:9 (HD standard) FWIW. I'll take either aspect ratio at the type of pixel densities we're talking about for 720p on a ~4.5" screen. As long as PenTile is not involved.

You dont have to break anything to me. I'm fully aware of that. I just prefer the OG EVO screen size compared to the 3D. We'll see what the next EVO has to bring. If its awesome, I'll get it. If not, I'll just look elsewhere.

LOL you're not the only one that was thinking projector.

Have to say it is a moot point for me now that premier rewards has been killed, unless it comes out two years from now!

That said, better camera optics would be nice and a 4.7-5" screen.

Given the brand spankin' new rumors swirling around the HTC Edge, the next Evo may very well be a quard-core phone with a 4.7" screen. Can't say I'm that thrilled about it (it's gonna need a monster battery to keep it going through the day), but we'll see what develops over the next couple months.

Yeah they seem to be pushing the screens bigger every few phones they put out, which I LOVE! Quad-Core could be a good idea as long as it's optimized and good for battery life. I'd really like 32GB internal memory plus an empty MicroSD slot as well.

Give me bigger screens any day, because as people know, once you hit the age of 40, your reading vision begins to go (and no corrective lense or surgery can stop that). So, bigger screens for me means easier to read text. I really hate reading glasses, even though I begrudgingly use them.

:(:(:(:(

i feel you!!!!!

Lol, I can't help but think of the picture that was making the rounds on the Interwebz of a guy holding a tablet to the side of his head and the caption read, "the future of cell phones." ;)

The readability issue should not be solved by enlarging the screen. We need Android to give us more control over font sizes. The main problem with the screen size argument is that the pixel densities are increasing as well, and that means text starts shrinking. I've seen many people complain in the Evo 3D forums that the text got so much smaller compared to the Evo 4G, and it's true. The point size of the font stayed the same; therefore the higher density screens render the font smaller.

Less of an issue with text in browsers because the browser scales the page to fit. But most OS screens, menus, and some system apps get much harder to read on high pixel-density screens.

I definitely sympathize with the 40+ crowd. And I've been trying to get my Mom to keep up with the times and get a smartphone, but the #1 issue she struggles with isn't the tech. It's the readability. And that's such a simple problem to solve at the software level.

soo true... 100% agree..

a mod that can dev a patch to give text on homescreen a bigger font.. would be king!

Lasers, lot's of high powered lasers...

Frickin sharks with laser beams on their frickin heads!

Honestly I prefer the smaller crisper font. You can see more at a time.

Also I'm leaning towards getting a Samsung Galaxy Note if it comes to Sprint early next year and then re-evaluating the third Evo once it's announced. We'll see.

4.75" Screen
Quad Core
HD display
3D
SRS surround sound
Android 4.0
LTE (Probably the first LTE phone Sprint sells)
2000mAh battery
1.5gig RAM

I don't disagree with you. Of course, larger font on a tiny screen doesn't help, either. ;)
