Root [Sprint/Cricket] Had 4G today!

I know there is a sole sprint section only, but, i am rooted, with Freeza's jb leak, LIG. Anyways. Went into sprint and got my replacement. Got home, download mod was all it seen and 'mtp syncing' booted her up and had 4G. Now i was curious as if it was the LIG modem so i flashed the LIF modem and only had 3G?! :-\ odd as I've never seen/heard that modems/radio software act like this. So put it in airplane and rebooted, turned off airplane mode and there it was! Flashed back to LIG modem and it was still there :-D then my signal disappeared and when it came to 10 min later back to 3G. Now. Why not just leave the 4G/lte tower on since me and everyone on sprint, rooted or not, pays an extra $10 for that!!!

Anyways, anyone else experiance this lately? I'm in Fairfield, ca 30mi north of s.f. and 50mi south of sac. Just curious if the modems had anything to do with this or if I'm just a beer short in my 30rack

They are probably testing the towers in your area. Network vision is the thing Sprint is doing currently. Until it's 100% complete in your area you will get intermittent 4G and sometimes spotty 3G and voice. It most likely doesn't have anything to do with your modems if it's happening on all of them.

I worked for Sprint and the $10 premium data fee is not to be confused with 4G data. The premium data fee is for ALL smart phones (Android, iOS, blackberry, Windows Phone) with and without 4G. Originally (2010) it was for 4G wimax but in 2011 they changed the policy (silently obviously) so that the fee will be applied to all smartphone users.

I also work for a Sprint Retailer. I know that some of the mall locations have gotten LTE points for the mall so you can "TRY" LTE out. In my area (MASS) they have added the Cape, so I am just waiting for them to move inland more.

I'm sure major city malls or cooperate stores will have that. Not in this town/city. I have been keeping my lte/evdo radio on just incase though ;-)

the 10 bucks prem charge is cuz you have a smart phone. is not because you have 4g... even people on that the kyocera milano still get charge that $10 prem charge... and thats a 3g phone.

I think im gonna hit the nearest sprint retailer to do the same, and if i cant make that happen, i have a vzw store kitty corner from my apartment building (a rather posh one to boot) and see if i can do the holiday madness there part time along with my full time tech support gig(and im not referring to the stuff i do here LOL)
