What You Need?

Rooted Sprint Samsung Galaxy S3 SPH-L710 with ClockworkMod Recovery installed. Check out these guides on [how to root your Sprint Galaxy S3] and [how to flash ClockworkMod Recovery] to your Galaxy S3 SPH-L710.Backup all personal data on your phone to make sure you have a copy of your personal data (e.g., contacts, SMS, MMS, Internet settings, Wi-Fi passwords, and the like) in case the procedure in this guide erases such data. For backup tips, check our guides on [how to sync your data to the cloud] and [how to create local backups of your mobile data].[Terminal Emulator] installed on your phone. You can get your copy by downloading it from the Google Play Store.Download the [MSL finder file] (Sprint_MSL_Finder_v1.1.zip, 494 kB)

Instructions

Copy the*Sprint_MSL_Finder_v1.1.zip*file to your phone’s SD card.Switch off your phone.Boot into ClockworkMod Recovery. You can do this by pressing and holding down the*Volume Up,*Home, andPower*buttons together until your phone screen turns on. Use the Volume buttons to navigate and the Power button to select once inside recovery.Select*Install ZIP From SD Card.Select*Choose ZIP From SD Card*then browse for the downloaded ZIP file and select it. Confirm the installation process by selecting*Yes*on the screen that follows.After the installation process is finished, head back to the main menu.Select*Reboot System Now*to reboot your phone.When your phone is fully booted-up, open the*Terminal Emulator*app.Enter the following code and press enter.suA pop-up menu will be displayed. Press*Allow/Grant*to give root privileges to the Terminal Emulator application.Then enter this command to view your MSL number. Write down the MSL code on a piece of paper and save it for future use.getprop ril.MSLExit Terminal Emulator.Congratulations! You have successfully obtained the MSL number of your Samsung Galaxy S3 SPH-L710 (Sprint).
 
Sorry to bump in on this thread since I am on Ting (a Sprint MVNO) so my S3 is actually a Sprint phone. When I activated my S3 with Ting, they sent me an activation email which to my suprise included the MSL code for my S3. Wow, how open is that!

The same problem, also I'm in Europe - I can not activate my phone Motorola Admiral XT603(bought at ebay). Without the activation Sprint support doesn't give code, and I can not activate.. the phone with root. Tried all the programs - MSL code not received.
Anybody can help me?
 
I know this topic has been beat to death in more than one forum, but please bear with me. And if replying, please read what's already been tried, and failed, before offering the same tips. Recent purchase of two Sprint Galaxy S3's for me and the wife, coming off two EVO 4G's that we had for two years. Very much wanting to be able to change the values for the Sprint proxy in data settings to "0's" to try and get better download speeds and streaming, but for that of course you have to know and enter the MSL (SPC code). Sprint reps won't give it up since it's a recently new 2-year contract, and I've tried that more than once and in different ways. Other things tried that work for others but not for these devices, and I've done them 100% correctly per stated procedures and done them more than once:
1) Get my MSL app from the Google Playstore. Doesn't work on rooted devices from what I've read, and therefore doesn't work on ours (rooted).
2) Running Terminal Emulator or Connectbot, going to the ##3282# settings and entering an incorrect 6-digit MSL to Edit, then going back to one of those apps and typing SU (for Superuser permission) and then getprop ril.MSL. There is no such data there to pull, as seen when just typing getprop and reading through all the data. Nothing there to do with MSL, SPC, Code, or anything similar, and no 6-digit data other than a couple for openGL info.
3) Running the free demo version of DFS on my PC with the device USB connected and with Qualcomm modem settings on the device set for proper communication with the program. It won't read data at all even though it picks up the correct serial port.

Thanks if you can help. I've waded through page after page of sites with methods that work for many people, but no joy so far. I even paid an online company 6 bucks to get the MSL, but they came back with no success (and refunded the money). This stuff was a heck of a lot easier on the EVO's, and changing the proxy values on those really did make a data speed difference. Sure wish I could get there on the S3's. For reference, running the most current stock ROM, rooted, on the wife's device, and the MOAR ROM, rooted, on mine. Thanks!

So am I correct to understand that the 3 things you have listed there, have not worked?
I also have tried the MSL Reader from the PlayStore and that has not worked on my device. Granted, I have the Verizon variant, but nontheless, it did not work either :(

Grumpy, I just tried this and it worked (I've read on the forums in the past to try this). Call your carrier and just tell them you need your MSL code. Tell them the store told you that you might need it and just want to have it ready if you need it. She gave it to me with no problem. I don't recall if you were on Sprint, but if you are Sprint's number is 1-888-211-4727. I was literally on the phone for less than 2 minutes.

Edit: I do see that you are on Sprint. Like I said, just give them a little BS and they will give it up!!
 
Grumpy, I went through the same problem with a Samsung I picked up from E-Bay. Phone seemed fine - good ESN. Sprint willingly gave up the MSL (629802), but what their dB indicated for my ESN did not work. Spoke with tier-2 support and he suggested my phone had been rooted and the MSL changed. Tried 'Get My MSL' to no avail and 'Terminal Emulator' did not seem to accept the SU command. In the end I succeeded with luck. I tried 000000 as the MSL and it worked! I guess when rooting the phone it makes sense to define an easy MSL. Despite some initial problems with over air programming, we eventually got it all provisioned. I've updated the Galaxy S II (SPH D-710) to Jelly Bean and all is good.
