I browsed for awhile here and was unable to find a root method for my phone. I have never rooted a device before, and I understand the consequences. Is anyone able to help me out with finding a method to root my phone and back up its orignal ROM to my pc?

If I have some time when I get home I'll make a mini walkthrough for how I would handle it.

First, consider what ROM you are looking to flash. The starting point will matter here.

Second, do you have the basics? The one-click, if available, or the .tar file to Odin to.
I start with that as I want to know that I'm starting fresh.

Third, have you rooted a phone before?

EDIT: you never posted what you tried.

I have no ROMs in mind to use. I have no tried anything. I have read countless sites, guides, and feedback from different users from different methods. All the methods i have seen are related to a certain device/carrier and I was unable to find a rooting method for my Cricket - Galaxy s3. I want to root my phone safely, without bricking it. Cant afford to dish out 400$ for a new device. Basically what Im looking for is.
- A method that will safely root my device
-Suggested list of ROM's
-Programs/Files I need to download on my PC
-A method to unroot phone if need be

Sorry about the delay.
First I would make sure I had the drivers.
All you need to do is have a custom recovery. Philz is the one I kept seeing so I went with that one.
This will get you back to stock ND8 KitKat.
The ROM I'm using is here
Don't use this information. You have a Verizon based phone. This will give you a major headache. Lookup stuff for the Verizon version and find the fixes for data.
