Root [Sprint/Cricket] Point Me To The Right ROM

I would like to have:
1. Access to USB Storage Mode (or at least someone to show me how to access it from Ubuntu because I can't get it to work)
2. Be able to see photos and play music from my SD card from the default gallery and music player

I have used Baked, Blazer, FreeSG3 and AOKP.
It seems that TouchWiz based ROMs have MTP and AOSP based ROMs won't let me see whats on my SD card.

I have used Blazer before but I cannot sync my device to Ubuntu with MTP file transfer. Is there a way to disable that? Or does someone know how to set up Linux to use MTP properly?

a linux user in our midst!!! and here i was thinking i was alone!! LoL anyways, im at work so i cant play around with mandriva here(or ubuntu for that matter(i have a triboot system)) but ill see what i can find when i get at my compy

I wiped my laptop a year ago and have been running Ubuntu ever since.
My phone syncs with my Unbuntu One. I don't understand why I'm not seeing
all my files from phone though when I plug into the laptop.
I'm a real n00b with Linux but do enjoy the freedom :)

Completely unrelated to phones, but I want Ubuntu and Windows 7 on my computer. I want to keep Windows 7 because of the app compatibility. I messed around with it a few years ago but my old desktop was stolen so I haven't done anything deal with PC since then :/

Dude, dualbooting is soooooo easy!! Just download the ubuntu .iso and burn it to a dvdr. Then install it in another partition on your hdd and youre good to go. Theres youtube vids for that too lol
