Root [Sprint/Cricket] Possibly the most idiotic post ever [System deleted] yeah..

My s3 was mounted on my pc, for some reason I wanted to delete everything but instead of doing a normal factory reset like a normal human being I figured I'd just save myself the trouble and delete everything, I figured the system would be locked. Yeah if you're still reading this without laughing then I commend you. But now I have an s3 that wont do anything. NOTHING.. If it's even possible and If you would like to help me what can I do? I honestly think I screwed up BAD, no shit right? Like I did have a backup but that was for CWM but I doubt that would help... I've done some dumb stuff but this is literally the dumbest shit like it's the same as deleting system32.. If you would like to guide me and scold me for doing such an idiotic thing please do so. The phone was rooted before but I don't even know what to say..
My phone is a sprint sph lph-710

I wonder if Odin can fix something like this.....? I did something similar to a tablet once. Changed the system folder permissions LOL, it was like a slow and painful 3 minute FC death for the tablet. And then it would not boot afterwards :D

Yeah I have ODIN, essentially I just want to get the "download" option back, Vol UP+Home+power, flash CWM recovery using odin and then restore the backup and afterwards go sign up for a logical reasoning class for being such a moron. Or maybe my inner consciousness wanted to test how well I can compose myself under extreme situations..

Oh one more thing.... If you have a system dump of that phone (which one should always do after rooting), it will make recovery easier. And no more scolding LOL, I've done my share of stupid shyt, have a pile of bricked tablets on front of me!

How can I just get the core essentials back? And thanks I guess sometimes people just act without even thinking of the damn consequences. For some reason I have a feeling I can get out of this one... Idk..

So what exactly did you delete? Since GS3 was mounted, what does that give you access to? Everything accessible or just the system folder? I'm not a recovery expert, just curious. Does the phone even show up under ADB devices on your PC?

I'm embarrassed to say that I just went **** it and deleted all of the folders. Again I don't know why but I assumed the core system files would stay intact. I didn't think deleting everything was even possible. Right now I can connect the s3 and it does mount I think, even my mobile go program kind of sees it but I can't see it on my computer at all. I also have my moms s3 in case I need some spare files. I didn't lose any photos or important documents everything had been backed up already. I was just flashing roms and the last thing I did was just delete everything. Again I didn't know the fundamental core files were so accessible and could be deleted like this.

You may or may not. I think if boot loader was compromised in any way it may be a loss. If by some remote chance the phone shows up in ADB you can probably restore it. Odin MIGHT be your savior regardless of boot loader integrity. I have it on my PC, but haven't been able to put it to good use yet.

Yeah I do have it, I'm not too sure I have used it in a long time but it's probably somewhere in my pc. What should I be doing?

Plug your phone into USB.

Windows 7 or XP, start menu. > select 'Run...'

Type "CMD", hit enter (without quotes)

This will bring up a DOS window.

At command prompt in DOS window, type "ADB devices" (again, no quotes) and hit enter

If you have ADB, it will show attached devices, and your phone ID will show up. Or it will be blank

If you don't have ADB, it will say 'ADB' is not a recognized command or invalid file path or some shit like that.

If you have Windows 8 or a Macintosh, I don't know how to use ADB with them

It says C:Users/myname>

I'm on windows 7, and thanks for taking the time to help me out right now, I'm keeping calm because of you.

No phone ID number it when I type adb devices again, it displays a huge amount of android commands and then displays c:users/my name, again.. But can I flash something through here? Possibly the bootloader?
The only thing I need to do in order to save my ass is get the "download" screen back (I think?) onto the s3 and then I can just flash via odin the S3 stock rom... which I've downloaded already from here... http://www.smartphonejam.com/2012/06/how-to-return-back-samsung-galaxy-s3-to.html

Yeah I'm feeling terrible... You're the only one that's been helping me out so A HUGE thanks... The only thing preventing me reverting back using ODIN is the lack of bootloader/download option... uGHH Why did I have to do this to myself lol...

Well, no need to panic, yet :)

You may have been spared of a total brick. If you deleted a bunch of folders using windows, which is what I'm led to believe, you should be able to use ADB fastboot commands and/or Odin to push system and recovery partitions back to the phone.

Now, I believe you need the system and recovery files, like from a system dump. Your mom's SGS3 may be a good source, but I don't think you can dump those files to a PC unless her phone is rooted. There may also be links for SGS3 recovery/system files that you can download.

Most importantly, you need to download and install Android ADB alone, or the SDK (which comes with ADB). You will need it for executing fastboot or ADB commands. I don't know if Odin will work without ADB installed, that's beyond my scope of knowledge :)

I can totally donate and imburse you for your time, I have the sph-l710 stock s3 rom already and I do have adb it might be acting up a bit but I think I can still flash files or zips, I just need guidance on how to use adb or odin to flash just the file needed so I can see "download mode" again, and the I can take it from there.

No worries :) I'm afraid I can't be of much more help as I've never owned a Samsung droid and know very little about Odin and Linux :( However, I did request that this thread be moved to the Root section where it will definitely get more attention! I'm gonna be in and out and will check back here when I can. While you're waiting see if you can download and install the Google Android SDK/ADB, and use your other GS3 to test ADB when you install:

Android SDK | Android Developers

I'm going to run of for a few hours and go to the library get some fresh air and get some homework done and hopefully when I get back the android lords will have given me a glimpse of hope, I got a headache because of this... Lesson learned though, I will never just delete files like that.. Thank you by the way for like being really supportive. Let's see what happens. I'm without a phone for now...

All I will add is if you think SPRINT is going to help you think again. Best thing I ever did was quit SPRINT when my contract expired, and went with Virgin Mobil USA. Now I hope if you do try getting SPRINT to help, they will assist you in getting your phone working again. Good Luck.

No unfortunately not.. I still have hope for this phone though. There must be a way for me to flash some recovery files through adb, my computer still recognizes my phone I believe because whenever I connect it via usb I hear the connect sound.
