Nope and nope. I can get a new one will take a few days to get it tho. Was hoping there was a way i could unbrick it cause someone said its amazingly hard to perma brick them maybe im just the one ****** who could =(.

Flashing a wrong kernel or modem (radios) usually results in perm bricks. :/
 
Flashing a kernel shouldnt make it to where you cant get into download mode. Are you sure thats all you did? And what button combo are you using to get there?

If it's not made for your phone, it will brick the phone. In my experience, I ran CM9 on my EVO and flashed a aosp Gingerbread kernel. It still turned on but the screen was un responsive because the kernel wasn't the right kernel for ICS.
 
installing an incorrect kernel wont brick the phone, itll just make it bootloop. You should be able to get to download mode even after flashing the wrong kernel as the os/kernel have nothing to do with the bootloader

when i was playing around in the droid incredible world, i flashed a kernel from that device to my evo and it just bootlooped. But those 2 are more similar than different, then again so are the s2 and s3

Yes all i did was flash a kernel. It said complete and I rebooted the phone but it would not turn on. I tried every button combination possible to boot the phone up. My pc would not even recognize the device. When I plugged it in i got a very faint noise as opposed to the usual sound windows makes when connecting, but I could not access the device in any way to run odin or anything like that.

I took it back to best buy today they are going to send it out and just get me a new one in a couple days.
 
Given this scenario, it is proven that a wrong kernel flash can brick the phone. I was always told to never flash a kernel from another phone because of a possible brick.
 
So wait a minute...I'm running stock kernel on my sprint galaxy s3 and using setcpu with profiles...it appears to be working for me....? Like it'll let me go from 384 to like 1512...am I doing something wrong?

It's pointless. Stock kernels can't be manipulated with anything like SetCPU or programs like that. You can set the values but they won't take. You would need a custom kernel that can read (or however they do it, lol) the values
